Afeela 1 has begun pre-production at Honda’s plant in East Liberty, Ohio
The SONY inspired and Honda engineered Afeela 1 will carry a possible selling price that starts from USD89,900 which is about RM380,000 before logistic and local taxes are added on.
This electric sedan will go on sale in mid-2026 and will probably compete with the EQ cars from Mercedes and i models from BMW.
Looking at the asking price and the current market situation, Malaysia will probably not see this electric car as higher priced electric vehicles are not taking large sales numbers.
For example, Lotus EV, Mercedes, Audi and BMW EV’s above RM400k are not enjoying brisk sales right now.
This vehicle is designed to target tech junkies, with passengers able to watch movies in surround sound or listen to audiophile-quality music while on the move
The electric Afeela 1 is now in pre-production at Honda’s East Liberty plant in Ohio, with a brief to set a high standard for manufacturing.
The Afeela 1 will come with 21-inch wheels, rear entertainment and a center camera-monitoring system. The Afeel 1 also comes with 40 sensors (cameras, lidar, radar, ultrasonic), an ECU leveraged with over-the-top computing power (800 trillion operations per second), AI tech, active noise canceling, and a spatial sound system.
Powering this SONY EV will be front and rear 241-hp electric motors providing all-wheel drive with an estimated 300-mile cruising range and a 91-kWh battery that can be charged at up to 150 kilowatts.
