Alfa Romeo Returns To Singapore With The Junior Elettrica

The Alfa Romeo Junior Elettrica marks the return of the Alfa Romeo brand to Singapore, are we next for this EV?

After a brief period of uncertainty that saw the brand nearly exit the Singaporean market, Alfa Romeo has staged a dramatic comeback under new management. With a fresh distributor and a bold new focus on electrification, the spotlight is now on the Alfa Romeo Junior Elettrica.

As Singapore welcomes this Italian spark, the question for automotive enthusiasts across the Causeway is simple: Is it finally Malaysia’s turn?

In early 2025, reports circulated that Alfa Romeo and Jeep were preparing to leave Singapore. However, the narrative shifted in mid-2025 when Red Rock & Rosso Motor acquired the operations for both brands.

The Junior Elettrica serves as the flagship for this new era. It is Alfa Romeo’s first-ever battery electric vehicle (BEV) in Singapore and, crucially, its only model qualifying for Category A COE. While a mild-hybrid version exists globally, Singapore is going “all-in” on the electric variant, joining a local stable that includes the Tonale, Stelvio, and the legendary Giulia.

The Junior: Compact, Electric, and Unmistakably Alfa

Designed at the Centro Stile in Turin, the Junior marks a return to the compact segment—a space left vacant since the departure of the MiTo and Giulietta. Despite its small footprint, it carries a heavy design pedigree.

Design Highlights:

  • The Face: A reinterpretation of the “leggenda scudetto” grille featuring iconic Alfa Romeo lettering.
  • Lighting: “3+3” adaptive full LED matrix headlights paired with the classic “trilobo” motif.
  • Heritage Touches: A laser-etched “biscione” on the C-pillar and a “coda tronca” (truncated tail) rear inspired by historic racers like the Giulia TZ.

The Tech and Power:

The Junior Elettrica isn’t just a pretty face; it’s built for the modern urban landscape.

  • Powertrain: A front-mounted motor delivering 100 kW (134 hp) and 260 Nm of torque.
  • Battery & Range: A 54 kWh battery providing a respectable WLTP range of up to 410 km.
  • Charging: Supports 100 kW DC fast charging, moving from 10% to 80% in roughly 30 minutes.

While Singapore celebrates the Junior’s arrival, the Malaysian market is currently experiencing its own Alfa Romeo renaissance. The brand officially returned to Malaysia under DLSB Partners, launching the Giulia Veloce and Stelvio Veloce.

The current Malaysian lineup is focused on high-performance internal combustion engines, but with the government’s continued tax incentives for EVs and a growing charging infrastructure, the Junior Elettrica seems like the perfect candidate to broaden the brand’s local appeal. They may have to keep the price above RM250,000 as it is likely to be fully imported.
