We have just found out from people close to the matter that BMW, MINI, Rolls Royce and its motorcycle division Motorrad will NOT be participating in the upcoming Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show 2026 (KLIMS 2026).
This automotive and mobility showcase is said to be spotlighting cutting-edge innovations in electrification, sustainable transport, and smart mobility but we already know that BYD and the Chery Automotive Group (5 brands) will also not be participating.
Organised by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) in collaboration with Qube Integrated Malaysia, KLIMS 2026 right now only has about 16 automotive brands, which means brands with vehicles that have cutting-edge innovations in electrification from China and Germany will not be at the show.
So, if you visit KLIMS 2026 you will not see the 2026 BMW Motorrad lineup like the new R 1300 GS Adventure, improved F 900 GS, and enhanced electric models like the CE 02 and CE 04.
You will also miss out on the all-electric MINI JCW (3-door) and the all-electric MINI JCW Aceman both produce 258 hp and 350 Nm of torque. Then you will not get up close with the new MINI JCW (petrol) which features a 2.0L turbocharged engine delivering 231 hp and the JCW Countryman ALL4.
Then BMW’s latest electric vehicle lineup like the iX1 eDrive20, iX2 xDrive30, i4 eDrive35, and the i5 M60 will also not be at KLIMS 2026. The highly anticipated “Neue Klasse” i3 sedan which promise up to 900km WLTP range and advanced charging capabilities would have been a crowd puller ….. but it’s not going to be at KLIMS 2026.
Incidentally, the BMW Neue Klasse, a next-generation electric vehicle platform with 800-volt charging technology already had it regional debut at the recent Singapore and Bangkok Motor Shows so why not in Malaysia at KLIMS 2026?
So, question ……. will Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Volkswagen be at KLIMS 2026?
