Feytech Holdings Berhad has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Consortium Automotive of Malaysian Universities (CAuto), in an initiative supported and witnessed by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA).

Featured in the June–July 2026 issue of MIDA’s Invest Malaysia publication, the collaboration establishes an industry-first, multi-university talent pipeline designed to bridge academia and automotive manufacturing as Malaysia accelerates its transition toward electric vehicles (EVs), automation, and smart industrial ecosystems.

Multi-University Collaboration Under the MRI3 Framework

Led by Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), CAuto unites five leading Malaysian public technical universities:

  • Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA)
  • Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM)
  • Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM)
  • Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP)
  • Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM)

Operating under the Ministry of Higher Education’s Research and Industry-Infused Incubator (MRI3) framework, the initiative goes beyond conventional internship placements. It establishes structured work-based learning (WBL) pathways, competitive internship allowances, full sponsorships for selected student final-year projects, and direct career placement opportunities within Feytech’s automotive ecosystem upon graduation.

Equipping Future Engineers for EV and Smart Factory Realities

As the domestic automotive industry evolves under the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP 2030) and National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), manufacturing demands are shifting rapidly toward high-voltage systems, lightweight vehicle interiors, digitalized assembly lines, and AI-driven quality control.

The partnership enables engineering undergraduates to gain hands-on operational exposure to:

  • Next-Generation EV Manufacturing: Understanding the material, ergonomic, and safety standards required for electric vehicle cabin architecture and interior systems.
  • Smart Factory Integration: Working with automated cutting, precision stitching, and digitalized production management tools.
  • Applied R&D Collaboration: Conducting joint research initiatives and utilizing advanced university facilities—such as UMPSA’s Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) and Autonomous Vehicle laboratories—to solve real-world manufacturing challenges.

Strengthening Local Supply Chain Capabilities

MIDA Chief Executive Officer Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid emphasized that Malaysia’s ability to attract and anchor high-quality automotive investments relies directly on the strength of its technical human capital. Aligning tertiary engineering curricula with immediate factory-floor requirements ensures local graduates possess industry-ready competencies from day one.

For automotive interior and seat manufacturer Feytech, investing in local academic collaboration helps build a sustainable supply of homegrown engineering talent. By fostering closer ties between public technical institutions and domestic tier-1 suppliers, the initiative strengthens local supply chain resilience, enhances technological capabilities, and elevates Malaysia’s competitiveness in the regional electric mobility ecosystem.
