At the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show, Beijing Hyundai officially initiated pre-sales for the all-new Ioniq V, the debut production model under its dedicated Ioniq new energy vehicle sub-brand.
Developed under a “China-first” product strategy, the mid-size electric fastback was designed entirely by the Hyundai China Design Centre. Following its initial public concept showcase at the Beijing Auto Show and subsequent regulatory approval filings earlier this year, the model is engineered to satisfy the preferences of Chinese EV buyers before influencing Hyundai’s broader global electric lineup.
Beijing Hyundai is offering the Ioniq V across three distinct equipment grades with accessible pre-sale pricing:
- Standard Edition: Starting from 119,900 yuan (approximately USD 17,600)
- Smart Driving Edition: Starting from 129,900 yuan (approximately USD 19,100)
- Long-Range Edition: Starting from 139,900 yuan (approximately USD 20,600)
Fastback Proportions and Sharp Aesthetic Design
The exterior of the Ioniq V is defined by a low-slung, aerodynamic silhouette featuring flat surfacing and crisp character lines:
- Dimensions and Stance: Measures 4,900 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,470 mm in height, riding on an extended 2,900 mm wheelbase that maximizes passenger legroom.
- Front Fascia: Adopts a fully enclosed aerodynamic front panel in place of a conventional radiator grille, flanked by split lighting units that combine an ultra-slim horizontal daytime running light (DRL) strip with integrated bumper headlights.
- Styling Accents: Incorporates a sweeping fastback roofline, frameless side doors, and blacked-out window surrounds.

Inside, the cabin embraces a “Nebula Wrap-around” architecture trimmed in premium Alcantara, high-gloss accents, and coordinated Nebula ambient lighting.
The digital cockpit is anchored by a massive 27-inch 4K continuous central control screen driven by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8295 automotive-grade processor. The smart operating system integrates dual artificial intelligence large language models (LLMs)—Baidu’s Ernie Bot (Wenxin Yiyan) and ByteDance’s Doubao—enabling responsive voice interactions and context-aware digital assistance.
Driving information is further projected onto the windscreen via the “Cyber Eye” Head-Up Display (HUD), while high-speed highway autonomous navigation and assisted driving are powered by an onboard Momenta intelligent driving system.
CATL LFP Batteries and Up to 650 km Range
The Ioniq V utilizes a rear-wheel-drive single-motor powertrain paired with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery chemistry supplied by CATL:
- Electric Motor Outputs: Offered in standard 140 kW (188 hp) or high-output 168 kW (225 hp) configurations.
- Battery Capacities: Available with either a 53.5 kWh or an extended 66.8 kWh CATL battery pack.
- CLTC Driving Range: Delivers four distinct CLTC pure electric driving ranges depending on wheel size and trim specification: 520 km, 540 km, 620 km, and a maximum of 650 km.
