Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV Local Assembly Begins at PROTON Tanjong Malim EV Plant

The Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV is now being locally-assembled in Tanjong Malim alongside the other e.MAS BEVs.

PRO-NET, the new energy vehicle subsidiary of PROTON Holdings Berhad, has officially commenced local assembly (CKD) for the Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV at its dedicated EV plant within the Automotive High Tech Valley (AHTV).

The rollout was officiated by Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani and Deputy Minister Sim Tze Tzin, alongside PROTON Chairman Tan Sri Syed Faisal Albar and CEO Dr. Li Chunrong. The milestone reinforces PRO-NET’s localization roadmap and supports Malaysia’s ambition to become a Southeast Asian hub for electrified vehicle (xEV) production.

• Investment Scale: RM 37 million plant expansion project.
• Annual Output Target: Scaled to hit up to 42,000 units annually.
• Strategic Goal: Deepen vendor capabilities, localization rates, and regional export capacity.
