High-Performance Dual-Motor 4MATIC Powertrain

Both variants share a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain engineered for dynamic power delivery, long-range efficiency, and serene acoustic composure:

  • System Output: Combines a front electric motor with an in-house developed permanently excited synchronous machine (PSM) at the rear to produce 310 kW (421 hp) and 800 Nm of torque.
  • Acceleration & Speed: Sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds on the way to an electronically governed top speed of 210 km/h.
  • Two-Speed Rear Transmission: The rear drive unit incorporates a two-speed gearbox (11:1 first gear for rapid standing starts and off-road crawl; 5:1 second gear for efficient high-speed motorway cruising).
  • Efficiency & Disconnect: Power electronics feature high-efficiency silicon carbide (SiC) inverters, yielding a 93% battery-to-wheel operating efficiency. A Disconnect Unit (DCU) automatically uncouples the front axle when cruising to minimize mechanical drag.
  • TERRAIN Off-Road Mode & Transparent Bonnet: In addition to Eco, Comfort, Sport, and Individual, the SUV includes a dedicated TERRAIN mode that locks in all-wheel drive, activates specialized DIGITAL LIGHT off-road wide-beam illumination, and displays a virtual “transparent bonnet” view on the central screen to navigate concealed obstacles.

85 kWh Battery and 320 kW DC Fast Charging

The electric GLC operates on an advanced 800-volt electrical architecture, delivering high thermal stability and ultra-rapid power replenishment:

  • Battery Capacity & Range: Uses a modular 85 kWh usable lithium-ion battery pack (silicon oxide mixed with graphite anodes; 680 Wh/L volumetric energy density), delivering a WLTP driving range of between 523 km and 616 km.
  • 320 kW DC Fast Charging: Supports high-power DC charging rates up to 320 kW, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in 22 minutes, or add up to 255 km of driving range in just 10 minutes.
  • AC Charging: Equipped with a 22 kW on-board AC charger, enabling a complete 0% to 100% home recharge in approximately 4 hours.
  • One-Box Intelligent Recuperation: The brake-by-wire system recuperates up to 300 kW of kinetic energy back into the pack, featuring single-pedal driving in D- mode with electric braking deceleration up to 3 m/s².

Illuminated Iconic Grille and Aerodynamic Presence

The exterior blends classic SUV proportions with low-drag aero contours, recording a drag coefficient of just 0.26 Cd:

  • Illuminated Face: Debuts the marque’s reimagined “Iconic Grille” featuring a wide chrome surround, smoked glass mesh, and 942 individually backlit polycarbonate LED dots that animate upon approach.
  • Lighting Elements: Equipped with DIGITAL LIGHT headlights showcasing star-motif daytime running lights, mirrored by full-width two-part animated LED taillamps.
  • Wheels & Stance: The AVANTGARDE rides on 20-inch multi-spoke light-alloy wheels with open-pore birch interior accents, while the AMG Line Plus is fitted with 21-inch AMG multi-spoke wheels, an AMG rear spoiler lip, and dark mixed-fabric interior trim.
  • Color Palette: Choices include Obsidian Black, MANUFAKTUR Opalite White Bright, High-Tech Silver, Lavender Silver, and Sodalite Blue, with MANUFAKTUR Alpine Grey Solid and MANUFAKTUR Patagonia Red Metallic reserved exclusively for the AMG Line Plus.

39.1-Inch MBUX Hyperscreen and Google-Powered AI

The interior integrates digital technology and luxurious acoustic appointments:

  • Unbroken 99.3 cm Display: The full-width MBUX Hyperscreen spans 39.1 inches under a single glass contour, powered by matrix backlighting with over 1,000 local dimming zones, the Unity Game Engine, and an enhanced Zero Layer interface.
  • MBUX Virtual Assistant: Features a multi-agent AI architecture integrating Google Cloud’s Automotive AI Agent (built with Gemini) for contextual route and points-of-interest discovery, alongside Microsoft ChatGPT agents for general knowledge queries.
  • SKY CONTROL Panoramic Roof: An electrochromic PDLC glass roof divided into nine individually controllable segments that can switch between clear and opaque, embellished with 162 backlit illuminated stars coordinated with 64-color ambient lighting.
  • Acoustics & Storage: Features a Burmester 3D surround sound system with stainless steel grilles, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with Dolby Atmos support, a front passenger selfie/video camera, and dual Qi wireless charging docks.

Expanded Cabin Space and Practicality

Riding on an elongated 2,972 mm wheelbase—80 mm longer than the combustion-engine GLC—the cabin provides 47 mm of additional rear legroom and 46 mm of added front headroom.

Storage is versatile across both ends of the vehicle:

  • Rear Boot: Provides 570 litres of luggage space, expanding to 1,740 litres via 40:20:40 split-folding rear backrests, with a loading floor that lowers by 80 mm under the Boot Comfort Package.
  • Front Trunk (Frunk): Offers an additional 128 litres of front luggage capacity, accessible by pressing the central three-pointed star on the bonnet.

Comprehensive active safety is delivered through the MB.DRIVE ASSIST and MB.DRIVE PARKING ASSIST 360 packages, managed by a water-cooled onboard supercomputer receiving inputs from ten cameras, five radar sensors, and twelve ultrasonic sensors.
