Did you know that some 15 auto manufacturers did not participate at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show which is on from right now until the 2nd of April 2025.
What’s even more interesting is that this is evidence that cut-throat competition and rapid consumer movement toward electric vehicles (EVs) are edging more players out of the world’s largest car market.
So, International and well known auto manufacturers Hyundai and Lamborghini were not at this show and surprisingly, Chinese EV start-ups Hozon Auto and Jiyue did not participate in the world’s largest auto event, which started last Wednesday.
The absences suggest that these companies may be grappling with sharply dropping sales in mainland China.
BYD showed off the Denza Z, an electric coupe to face off battery-electric versions of the Porsche 911 and Mercedes-AMG GT sports cars. Did you know that Denza’s design team is led by ex-Audi and Alfa Romeo designer Wolfgang Egger?
At the show, the latest BYD owned sports car was shown in left-hand drive, but a right-hand-drive version will soon be available.
