Next-Gen Nissan Qashqai e-POWER debuts in Europe with a fresh design and smarter tech.
The Nissan Qashqai — the original pioneer of the crossover segment — has received a major update in Europe, three years after the launch of its third generation. With over 350,000 units sold in that time, it remains a benchmark in its class. Now, the refreshed model pairs bold new styling with cutting-edge technology, headlined by the latest evolution of Nissan’s e-POWER hybrid system.

Fresh, Modern Exterior
The facelift brings a sharper and more technical look, inspired by traditional Japanese armour. The redesigned grille features floating high-gloss black “comma” elements, flanked by slimmer, adaptive LED headlights and new sequential turn signals. At the rear, updated taillights use “super red” floating elements for a precision look, while new alloy wheel designs — up to 20 inches — and fresh colour options, including Deep Ocean and Pearl White, boost kerb appeal.

Premium Interior Upgrades
Inside, higher-grade trims benefit from Alcantara® dashboard and door finishes, new patterned materials, quilted leather or synthetic upholstery, and ambient RGB lighting. The infotainment system now integrates Google built-in, giving drivers native access to Google Maps, Google Assistant voice control, and Google Play apps without relying on a smartphone.

Smarter Safety and Driver Assistance
The Qashqai gains an upgraded Around View Monitor with 3D and “invisible hood” views for safer manoeuvring, plus Parking Spot Location Memory. Advanced driver assistance systems now react quicker, and a new Driver Assist Custom Mode lets users tailor intervention levels.

The Latest e-POWER: EV Drive Without Plug-In Hassle
The highlight of the update is the continued refinement of Nissan’s e-POWER hybrid, which has sold over 100,000 units in Europe since its 2022 debut. Unlike conventional hybrids, the petrol engine never drives the wheels — instead, it acts purely as a generator for the 140 kW electric motor. This delivers instant torque, smooth linear acceleration, and an EV-like driving feel without the need to plug in.

A turbocharged 3-cylinder engine with variable compression ensures efficient electricity generation, while regenerative braking recovers energy during coasting and deceleration. Drivers can engage B-mode for stronger regeneration or use Nissan’s e-Pedal Step to drive primarily with one pedal in city traffic.

The updated Qashqai e-POWER offers a bridge for customers hesitant to go full EV, delivering the benefits of electric drive in a familiar, fuel-powered package. With a sharper look, smarter tech, and a more refined hybrid system, Nissan is aiming to keep its crossover king firmly at the top of the segment. In Malaysia, we’re just feeling the benefits of e-POWER hybrid tech via the Nissan Kicks, which has proven to be quite popular despite the stiff competition. Perhaps e-POWER will be the future of Nissan products in Malaysia.
