EPMB and Blueshark Begin Local Assembly of SoloEra Electric Motorcycles in Malaysia
EP Manufacturing Berhad (EPMB) has officially commenced production of the Blueshark SoloEra Solo 1C electric motorcycle at its Glenmarie facility through its wholly owned subsidiary EP Blueshark Sdn Bhd, in partnership with Blueshark Malaysia.

The development marks a significant milestone for Malaysia’s two-wheeler EV sector, with an initial production capacity of 12,000 units annually. The move supports the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and the nation’s net-zero ambitions, while strengthening Malaysia’s positioning as an emerging hub for two-wheeler electric vehicle (2WEV) manufacturing in ASEAN.
This comes as EPMB’s business focus continues to evolve. The group was previously expected to commence completely knocked down (CKD) operations for BAIC at their Melaka plant, but progress on that front has yet to materialise. EPMB has moved ahead with its Blueshark partnership and the Melaka plant seems to be now focused solely on GWM products.
Market Response and Future Lineup
Consumer response to the SoloEra Solo 1C has been encouraging, with over 7,000 registrations recorded since its pre-launch campaign in mid-July. The model was introduced at a promotional price of RM599, supported by the MARiiCas EV rebate initiative and partnerships with Mesra Rewards and Setel.

Beyond the Solo 1C, Blueshark Malaysia plans to roll out the Solo 2 and Solo 3 later this year, offering higher performance and broader choice for local riders.
Stakeholder Support
The production milestone was witnessed by representatives from key stakeholders including the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii), MIDF, PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad, and Blueshark. YBhg. Datuk Hanafi Sakri, Deputy Secretary General (Industry), MITI, served as Guest of Honour at the event.
Advancing Malaysia’s EV Ambitions
According to Jeff Chong, CEO of Blueshark Malaysia:
“This is a proud moment as we turn our vision for affordable, sustainable mobility into reality.”
The SoloEra’s local production highlights how EPMB is contributing to Malaysia’s wider electromobility ecosystem, helping to make sustainable two-wheeler transport more appealing and accessible for the mass market.
