The Jetour Zongheng G700 may be the GWM Tank 500 PHEV alternative you’ve been waiting for.
At the 2025 Chengdu Auto Show, Chery’s Jetour brand officially opened pre-sales for its brand-new Jetour Zongheng G700, a full-size plug-in hybrid off-road SUV. Reservations can be secured with just a 700 yuan (USD 98) deposit, although the final price range has yet to be announced. It’ll be interesting to see if Jetour will introduce this locally, though with the absence of PHEV incentives and the general strategy of keeping products ‘cheap and cheerful’, this G700 might be a tad too ambitious for Malaysia. We’ll wait and see though.
The G700 is the first model under Jetour’s new Zongheng off-road series, designed to take on extreme conditions while offering cutting-edge technology and luxury.
Rugged Off-Road Design Meets Unique Features
Staying true to classic off-roader DNA, the Jetour Zongheng G700 features a boxy silhouette, externally mounted rear spare tire, and front and rear towing hooks. One standout feature is its programmable taillights, which can display different digital patterns and words—something rarely seen in this segment.

Chery’s Powerful Hybrid Technology
Under the hood, the G700 is powered by Chery’s Kunpeng super-performance hybrid system, combining a 2.0T engine with dual electric motors and a 2-speed DHT gearbox. The system produces an impressive 560 kW (751 hp) and 795 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 4.6 seconds.
Efficiency is equally impressive:
- Fuel Consumption: 1.39 L/100 km
- Thermal Efficiency: 45.5% for the engine
This setup is paired with a CATL-supplied 4C Shenxing battery pack, giving the SUV a total driving range of 1,400 km. Thanks to fast charging capability, the battery can be charged from 30% to 80% in just 10 minutes.
High-Tech, Luxury-Oriented Cabin
Inside, the Jetour Zongheng G700 blends rugged design with modern luxury. Boxy door panels and square air vents highlight its off-road character, while a suite of tech features provides comfort and convenience:
- 15.6-inch central control screen
- 35.4-inch telescopic digital instrument display
- 17.3-inch rear ceiling screen for passengers
- Three-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel
- Built-in refrigerator (temperature range: -6℃ to 50℃)
The seats offer heating, ventilation, and massage functions, further enhancing comfort for long journeys. The G700 comes equipped with the Falcon 500 intelligent driving system, which supports high-speed NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) and parking assist. Additionally, it offers intelligent all-terrain driving modes and low-speed four-wheel drive, making it adaptable to both urban and extreme off-road conditions.
