Chery Malaysia today launched its flagship electrified SUV, the TIGGO 8 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), marking a major milestone in the brand’s expansion of New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) for the Malaysian market. Positioned as a premium family SUV, the TIGGO 8 PHEV combines advanced hybrid technology, cutting-edge safety features, and luxurious comfort to deliver an electrified experience without compromise. It was launched alongside its smaller sibling, the Tiggo 7 PHEV.
Powered by Chery Super Hybrid Technology
At the heart of the TIGGO 8 PHEV is Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) – a next-generation platform designed for high efficiency, seamless performance, and long-distance driving. Its powertrain integrates:
- ACTECO 1.5TGDi 5th-Gen Hybrid Engine with 44.5% thermal efficiency, achieving class-leading fuel savings.
- Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) with dual motors for intelligent power distribution and smooth transitions between hybrid and electric modes.
- 18.3kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) Battery, offering up to 90 km of pure electric range and rapid DC charging (30% to 80% in just 19 minutes).
Together, these innovations give the TIGGO 8 PHEV a combined driving range of up to 1,200 km, making it ideal for long family trips while reducing environmental impact.
Safety as a Priority
The TIGGO 8 PHEV comes equipped with the Guardian Battery Safety System, delivering maximum reliability and protection. With IP68-certified dustproof and waterproofing, 500mm water wading capability, and automatic high-voltage cut-off in emergencies, Chery has designed the battery system to withstand Malaysia’s demanding road and weather conditions.
On top of this, the SUV features a full suite of ADAS 2.0 technologies, including Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), further boosting safety for drivers and passengers.

Designed as a premium 7-seater SUV, the TIGGO 8 PHEV offers generous space and versatility, making it ideal for families and executives alike. Smart connectivity is also a highlight, with seamless smartphone integration, voice controls, and advanced infotainment options. Practical features such as Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) power supply, roof rails, and expansive cargo capacity make the TIGGO 8 PHEV adaptable for both city commutes and weekend getaways.

Warranty and Availability
The Chery TIGGO 8 PHEV is offered with a 7-year vehicle warranty (150,000 km), an 8-year battery warranty (160,000 km), and 5 years of free labour service covering six service intervals. Customers are also assured with a 1-to-1 battery exchange guarantee if the battery health falls below 70% within the warranty period.
The flagship SUV will be available in a range of striking colours, including Phantom Grey, Khaki White, and Blood Stone Red with Black Roof, with pricing to be announced soon.
