Suzuki FRONX Achieves Maximum 5-Star ASEAN NCAP Rating in Latest Assessment

Suzuki Fronx marks the brand’s return to the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) after a six-year hiatus.

The Suzuki Fronx is open for booking in Malaysia and has successfully secured the maximum 5-Star ASEAN NCAP rating. Announced on October 30, 2025, the assessment confirms Suzuki’s continued commitment to safety across the diversified Southeast Asian market. The FRONX performed well under the current ASEAN NCAP 2021-2025 assessment protocol, achieving an accumulated score of 77.70 points.

The assessment protocol is based on four pillars, and the FRONX recorded the following results:

  • Adult Occupant Protection (AOP): 36.71 points
  • Child Occupant Protection (COP): 15.27 points
  • Safety Assist (SA): 15.71 points
  • Motorcyclist Safety (MS): 10.00 points

Comprehensive Safety Features for Regional Standards

The 5-Star rating is underpinned by a robust suite of standard fitment across all variants of the Suzuki FRONX. These crucial features include six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and a Seatbelt Reminder System (SBR) for both front and rear seat occupants. The model also includes Pedestrian Protection (PP) and ISOFIX for child seats.

ASEAN NCAP commended Suzuki for proactively equipping the FRONX with several crucial, life-saving technologies, even if some Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are offered as optional equipment. The inclusion of these technologies provides significant protection for the vehicle’s occupants and other road users.

Malaysian Market Sets a Higher Standard

For Malaysian consumers, the safety promise of the FRONX is further enhanced. Suzuki has specifically confirmed that all variants of the FRONX sold in the Malaysian market will feature Blind Spot Detection (BSD) and Auto High Beam (AHB) as standard equipment.

The inclusion of BSD is particularly important, as ASEAN NCAP notes that 80% of road users in the region are motorcyclists. Technologies like BSD and Blind Spot Visualisation (BSV) are estimated to help avoid 37% of collisions if all cars are equipped with them, assisting drivers in avoiding collisions with smaller two-wheeled vehicles.

The FRONX is the first Suzuki model assessed by ASEAN NCAP since the Suzuki Ertiga was tested in 2019. The positive 5-Star rating demonstrates the brand’s renewed focus on safety and marks a positive step forward, though ASEAN NCAP encourages Suzuki to continue this momentum by making all advanced safety technologies standard features in future models. The successful result comes as the region prepares to transition to the stricter ASEAN NCAP 2026-2030 protocol, which will commence in January 2026.
