Overview of the ASEAN NCAP 2021–2025 Protocol

The DESTINATOR’s rating falls under the current ASEAN NCAP protocol, which is reaching its conclusion this year (2025). Assessment under the new 2026–2030 protocol will commence in January 2026. The 2021–2025 roadmap utilizes a single star rating scheme based on the cumulative scores from the four pillars: AOP, COP, SA, and MS.

Key features and focus areas of this protocol included:

  • AOP: Continues frontal and side-impact tests, with a focus on encouraging the fitment of more Head Protection Technology (HPT), such as curtain airbags.
  • COP: Introduced the use of more local Child Restraint Systems (CRS) and promotes the adoption of Child Presence Detection (CPD) technology.
  • SA: Focuses heavily on Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) technology, specifically AEB City and Inter-Urban.
  • MS: Puts motorcyclist safety at the forefront, emphasizing technologies like Blind Spot Detection (BSD) and Advanced Rear Visualisation (ARV) to prevent collisions with the high number of powered two-wheelers in the region.

The result from the DESTINATOR is primarily intended for public consumption, allowing consumers to easily gauge the quality and safety protection offered by the model.
