5-Star ASEAN NCAP Rating For Perodua QV-E

Perodua QV-E Achieves Top ASEAN NCAP 5-Star Safety Rating.

The Perodua QV-E, which was launched today, has achieved the highest safety honor, securing a 5-Star rating under the stringent ASEAN NCAP 2021-2025 assessment protocol. This result confirms the model’s compliance with global safety standards and supports the government’s push for domestic EV manufacturing, proving that Malaysian ingenuity can deliver high-safety electric mobility accessible to the public. The vehicle concept was first revealed at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show 2024 (KLIMS 2024).

Tested in November 2025, the Perodua QV-E hatchback obtained a stellar overall score of 88.36 points. This comprehensive score is derived from four key assessment domains of the ASEAN NCAP protocol, which in 2025 marks the final year of the current assessment period before the 2026-2030 protocol begins. The categories assessed are Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), contributing 36.63 points; Child Occupant Protection (COP), with 16.73 points; Safety Assist (SA), earning a perfect 20.00 points; and Motorcyclist Safety (MS), with 15.00 points. Under the 2021-2025 protocol, AOP accounts for 40.00 points of the overall score, while COP, SA, and MS each contribute 20.00 points, showcasing the balance required across multiple safety aspects.

Perodua prioritized safety by ensuring the QV-E variant is generously equipped with essential and advanced features offered as standard equipment. Passive safety elements include six airbags and the Seatbelt Reminder System (SBR) for both frontal and rear occupants. The model also includes ISOFIX for child safety seats and rear seats occupant detection. Essential active safety features include Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). Furthermore, the QV-E is equipped with a suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) as standard, comprising Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) for both City and Inter-Urban driving, Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Blind Spot Detection (BSD) for both sides of the vehicle, and Automatic High Beam (AHB). Pedestrian Protection (PP) is also included as a standard safety feature.

A major highlight of the Perodua QV-E is the inclusion of the Child Presence Detection (CPD) system. This makes the QV-E the first Malaysian vehicle model to assess CPD functionality using direct-sensing technology under the rigorous ASEAN NCAP 2021-2025 protocol. This significant addition directly addresses the growing public concern surrounding the risk of children being unintentionally forgotten in vehicles. ASEAN NCAP has encouraged the use of this technology, and Perodua’s inclusion of CPD demonstrates a commendable commitment to occupant safety beyond traditional requirements.

Perodua QV-E ASEAN NCAP assessment

Achieving the 5-Star safety rating is a testament to the safety commitment of the entire Perodua team. By equipping the QV-E with advanced ADAS and pioneering technologies like CPD as standard, Perodua has successfully delivered on its national objective: producing a high-safety, locally made EV that is accessible to the broader Malaysian public.
