The Dongfeng Nissan N6 is a PHEV with really good numbers.
Nissan has officially entered the plug-in hybrid sedan wars in China with the launch of the Dongfeng Nissan N6. This is yet another of Nissan’s China only NEVs with engineering work done primarily by its major Chinese automotive partner, Dongfeng instead of Nissan’s own Alliance platforms of tech. Built on the all-new Tianyan Architecture which also underpins the N7, this tech-heavy sedan is designed for young families, offering class-leading efficiency and advanced AI connectivity at an aggressive price point.

With a starting price of just 99,900 RMB (approx. RM61,500), the N6 is Nissan’s first PHEV sedan in the market, signaling a major push to deliver “speed and innovation” to local customers.

Record-Breaking Efficiency
The headline feature of the N6 is its incredible fuel economy. Powered by a 1.5-litre engine paired with a 21.1 kWh LFP battery, the N6 recently set a Guinness World Record during the “Around-China Fuel Consumption Challenge.”

Covering 14,000 km across 30 provinces in 28 days, the sedan achieved a real-world fuel efficiency of 2.9L/100 km.
On paper, the specs are equally impressive, setting four new standards for the segment:
- EV Range: Up to 180 km on pure electric power.
- Fuel Efficiency: Sub-2L/100 km in charge-sustaining mode.
- Charging: Rapid charging capability (under 20 minutes).
- Running Costs: Estimated annual running costs kept within 2,000 RMB.
Tech-Heavy “Cloud Comfort” Cabin
Inside, the N6 moves away from traditional Japanese conservatism, embracing a fully digital cockpit powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8775 automotive-grade chip.
The center console is dominated by a 15.6-inch 2.5K ultra-clear screen. The system runs a “Cloud Comfort Cabin” interface featuring Xiao Ni, an AI voice assistant powered by iFlytek’s Spark and DeepSeek models. This allows for seamless natural language processing in multiple Chinese dialects and tailored voice commands from any seat.
For entertainment, the cabin is whisper-quiet and features a built-in wireless karaoke function—a popular feature in the Chinese market.
Comfort and “Wind Trace” Design
The exterior follows a “Wind Trace” philosophy, giving the N6 a slipstream profile that rivals luxury C-segment sedans. It features adaptive high-beam headlights and 3D “hurricane-eye” taillights.

Nissan has also prioritized passenger comfort with a “360-degree wraparound” interior using soft-touch materials on 85% of the trim.
- Front Seats: AI Zero-Pressure Cloud Cushion seats that use algorithms to adjust posture.
- Rear Seats: Proprietary “Gel Material” seats designed to provide a sofa-like experience for long journeys.
Advanced Driver Assistance
Driving the N6 is made safer by an end-to-end driving assistance system developed in collaboration with Momenta. The system supports highway cruising, city driving, and automated parking.

Safety is reinforced by a monocoque body structure and seven airbags, including side curtains over two meters long. The vehicle underwent over 7,400 R&D validation tests to ensure durability.
Variants and Pricing
The Nissan N6 is available in five grades, with pricing ranging from 99,900 RMB to 129,900 RMB. The vehicle is offered in six exterior colours, including Sunlight Gold and Obsidian Black, and two interior themes: Off-White and Elegant Black. It is also completely unlikely to end up in Malaysia just in case you’re holding out for a Nissan resurgence here.
