Xiaomi SU7 2026 Refresh: Prioritizing Safety and Intelligence in the Electric Era

The refreshed Xiaomi SU7 arrives with standard LiDAR and advanced autonomous driving across all variants.

Xiaomi has officially unveiled the first major refresh of its groundbreaking electric sedan, the Xiaomi SU7. Originally launched in 2023, the updated model introduces critical safety enhancements and performance upgrades as the company prepares for a full market launch in April 2026.

Safety at the Forefront

The 2026 refresh marks a significant pivot for Xiaomi, with the official website focusing heavily on safety rather than just raw performance. This shift follows public scrutiny regarding previous security incidents. To address these, Xiaomi has structurally strengthened the car with steel door anti-collision beams and increased the airbag count from seven to nine.

Crucially, every new SU7 now comes standard with LiDAR sensing and Xiaomi’s Hyper Autonomous Driving (HAD) system.

These are powered by a more robust onboard computer and include a door lock backup power system to ensure occupant security during emergencies.

Performance and Refined Engineering

While safety is the priority, the engineering remains impressive. All variants now feature the new V6s Plus motor.

  • Standard & Pro: Deliver a maximum power of 320hp.
  • Max Variant: Produces a staggering 690hp.

The Pro and Max models also benefit from an improved dual-chamber air suspension with CDC dampers for superior ride quality. Visually, the car retains its sleek silhouette but gains a slightly redesigned front grille and wider rear tires for better grip.

Range and Pricing

Using China’s CLTC standard, the SU7 continues to offer segment-leading range figures:

  • Standard: 720 kilometers (447 miles).
  • Pro: A whopping 902 kilometers (560 miles).
  • Max: 835 kilometers (519 miles).

Charging is also faster across the board. The new SU7 starts at 229,900 yuan (approx. RM131,000), representing a slight increase over the original model. Despite the price hike, it still comfortably undercuts major Western competitors like the Tesla Model 3. Xiaomi is at maximum production capacity in China, hence is not keen to overextend itself outside of its borders so soon.

Availability

Pre-orders for the Xiaomi SU7 Standard, Pro, and Max are open now, with official deliveries expected to commence in April 2026.
