Driver says reason for no road tax “Rarely Used” so JPJ seized this Mercedes E350 AMG
Somewhere in SUNGAI LALANG on February 23, 2026 there was a white Mercedes-Benz E350 AMG Line luxury car that was seized recently for not having road tax in an enforcement operation by the Malaysian Road Transport Department (JPJ) Kuala Ketil Enforcement Station.
The JPJ check found that the vehicle’s motor vehicle road tax and insurance coverage had expired and the car was still being used on the road. The vehicle was seized under Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
The Mercedes driver gave the reason that the car was rarely used and this is why the road tax was not renewed.
Meanwhile, after further investigations by the JPJ officers, its was discovered that the individual (driver) involved was not the registered owner of the vehicle.
Summons was also issued to the driver and owner under Section 23(1) and Section 90(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for the related offences.
The JPJ has stressed over and over that every vehicle used on the road must have valid road tax and insurance regardless of frequency of use. The vehicle is currently detained at the Kuala Ketil Enforcement Station for further action.
