JPJvBID App For Public Auctions Of Seized Vehicles & More

In a move to modernize its asset disposal process, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) has officially introduced JPJvBid.

This new digital platform is designed to manage public auctions of seized and forfeited vehicles, replacing traditional physical bidding sessions with a more transparent and efficient mobile-first experience. The introduction of JPJvBid marks a significant shift in how the government disposes of impounded assets. Available now on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Huawei AppGallery, the platform allows the public to browse, evaluate, and bid on vehicles directly from their smartphones.

Registration and Access

To participate, users must log in using their existing MyJPJ credentials. For those without an account, registration can be completed via the official JPJ portal. Once logged in, the app provides a centralized hub where users can manage their bidding history and view purchased e-catalogues.

The E-Catalogue and Bidding Process

Unlike traditional auctions that required physical attendance, JPJvBid utilizes a digital documentation system:

  • E-Catalogue Access: Users can purchase an e-catalogue for each auction series at a cost of RM50.
  • Vehicle Listings: Each listing includes critical details such as the starting price and the specific bid increment amounts, similar to the existing JPJeBid system for vehicle number plates.
  • Rating Reports: In a major change to previous practices, physical vehicle inspections are no longer permitted. Bidders must instead rely on high-resolution images and a comprehensive vehicle rating report attached to each listing to make their purchasing decisions.

Pilot Program in Selangor

The platform will debut with a pilot auction session conducted by JPJ Selangor, scheduled to run from April 1 to 5 this year. This initial session will feature a diverse lineup of 30 vehicles, ranging from motorcycles and cars to scrap vehicles.

Enhancing Transparency and Integrity

According to JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli, the launch of JPJvBid is a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing the integrity and efficiency of the disposal process. By moving the auction to a digital space, the department aims to eliminate manual interference and provide a level playing field for all participants.

This digitalization effort ensures that the disposal of impounded vehicles is handled with maximum transparency, allowing the department to manage its inventory while offering the public a simplified way to acquire vehicles.
