Tow Truck Strike On And Only Allianz Road Rangers Operating

Looks like Tow Truck services in Malaysia are currently facing major disruptions due to a three-day strike which is scheduled from today, April 12th (Sunday) to April 14th, 2026. Operators are protesting about the lack of diesel subsidies for them, which they claim has made their businesses unsustainable.

This is a nationwide protest which is expected to be most severe in the Klang Valley, it is planned to urge the government to include tow trucks in the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) 2.0.

Many operators have already begun boycotting insurance jobs (But NOT Allianz Road Rangers as they will be the only tow service running without hesitation).

Tow truck drivers are saying that insurance company rates (typically RM80–RM120 per job) no longer cover the cost of fuel, especially as diesel prices have surged to approximately RM6.02 per litre.

Insurance providers like Zurich Takaful have warned customers of significant delays, with some reports of stranded drivers waiting over 10 hours for assistantance.

Operators, represented by groups like the 1Malaysia Tow Truck and Car Transport Association (1MTTCC) and the Association of Muslim General Takaful Agents (Perwatam), are asking for the inclusion in the list of 23 commercial vehicle categories currently eligible for subsidised diesel at RM2.15 per litre.

They also want an update to the 2018 guidelines for towing charges to reflect modern fuel costs and operational expenses.

There are asking for the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) to expedite an appeal to the cabinet for these subsidies.

As of mid-2024, the government had already begun “analysing the need” to include tow trucks in the subsidy scheme. However, no permanent inclusion has been finalized, leading to the current 2026 protests as fuel prices continue to rise.
