The Renault 4 JP4x4 Concept looks like what a concept car should look like: unbound by reality.
Concept cars are great for stirring the public imagination around what could be or should be and the French have managed to push boundaries once again with the Renault 4 JP4x4 Concept. It clearly takes inspiration from the recent success of the Ford Bronco, but Renault points to older models from within their own history.

The Renault 4 JP4x4 Concept, a chic and modern beach car, pays homage to the original JP4 while incorporating its electric powertrain. This concept car showcases both its physical features and the equipment designed for sport and leisure. Following the FL4WER POWER, Savane 4×4, and Vision 4Rescue concepts, the Renault 4 JP4x4 Concept is the fourth concept-car based on the Renault 4 E-Tech electric platform. It demonstrates the full potential of the production model in terms of versatility, catering to both retail and business customers.
Similar to the first two vehicles, the Renault 4 JP4x4 Concept features green bodywork. This time, it comes in a slightly pearlescent Emerald Green with a bright and optimistic vibe. This shade is a modern take on the original Emerald Green (code 927) and Lettuce Green (code 913) available on the ‘4L’ in the 1970s and 1980s. The striking contrast between the green body and the orange interior creates a vibrant and lively design.

Styling-wise, the Renault 4 JP4x4 Concept exudes an adventurous and open-air feel. It features two minimalist doors that open conventionally, along with an openwork roof in the shape of a cross for enhanced stiffness. Additionally, it has a tailgate (without a soft top) that drops down like the side panel of a pick-up truck, making it easy to load.
In a nod to the ‘leisure’ styling of the original Plein Air and JP4 models, a surfboard is securely strapped to the roof, while skateboards are conveniently stowed in the boot.

Inside the vehicle, the bucket seats evoke the iconic “Egyptian mummy” seats with built-in headrests, reminiscent of several Renault models from the 1970s. These seats feature a mix of fabric upholstery, with a crepe base and diagonal mesh sections, creating an elegant and sporty appearance. The door panels, boot surround, and dashboard also incorporate a textile finish. Notably, the dashboard includes a grab handle on the passenger side for added safety on bumpy terrain. The floating center console is a unique feature that contributes to the fresh and airy interior, giving it a sophisticated yet robust feel. Additionally, the distinctive JP4 logo is prominently displayed on the central outer pillar, while “4×4” is visible on the front wing at the side and the boot at the rear.

From a technical standpoint, the Renault 4 JP4x4 Concept is built on the same platform as the Renault 4 Savane 4×4 Concept, which was unveiled in 2025. Consequently, it boasts a 15 mm higher ground clearance compared to the standard Renault 4 E-Tech electric vehicle. The vehicle maintains its 18-inch wheel size but is equipped with special Goodyear UltraGrip Performance+ 225/55 tires and unique “JP4” wheels. Furthermore, the front and rear tracks are widened by 10 mm on either side. Most notably, the Renault 4 JP4x4 Concept incorporates a second electric motor on the rear axle, enabling permanent all-wheel drive. This enhancement improves its agility while also significantly enhancing its off-road capabilities on sandy, stony, and unpaved surfaces. This showcases the potential of the RGEV small platform to develop a B-segment electric vehicle with four-wheel drive.
