Quill Group teases the arrival of Hongqi with two models, the E-HS9 and the H9, to lead the charge.
The Malaysian premium automotive segment is about to witness a historic shift in luxury and prestige. Quill Group has officially been named the distributor for Hongqi—China’s most iconic and storied automotive marque. Now, we see they have a website up and information on their first launches.

Founded in 1958, Hongqi (meaning “Red Flag”) carries 68 years of rich heritage as the ceremonial vehicle of choice for state leaders and dignitaries. For decades, these vehicles were not available to the general public; they could only be entrusted to a select few. Now, entering the Malaysian luxury conversation for the first time, Hongqi is breaking barriers with an official commercial rollout scheduled for Mid-2026. Leading this ultra-premium charge are two flagship models: the all-electric Hongqi E-HS9 full-size SUV and the executive Hongqi H9 luxury sedan.

1. The Hongqi E-HS9: An Uncompromised Full-Size Luxury EV SUV
The Hongqi E-HS9 enters the premium electric vehicle arena with massive presence, aiming directly at elite buyers looking for a unique alternative to European electric alternatives.

(Note: Specifications reflect the global right-hand-drive offering sold in Singapore; final local configurations will be confirmed closer to launch).
In the local premium landscape, the E-HS9 enters a high-end segment currently populated by established giants like the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, BMW iX, Lexus RX, and the Volvo EX90. These vehicles typically sit in the RM500,000 to RM800,000 price bracket for completely built-up (CBU) imports.

While Quill Group has not yet finalized exact local pricing, a look across the causeway shows Singapore list prices sitting in the SGD 400,000 to SGD 450,000 range. When adjusted for localized tax incentives under Malaysia’s current EV policy framework, the E-HS9 is projected to make a highly competitive entry for prestige-segment buyers, with lower-half pricing paths possible if local assembly (CKD) options materialize down the line.

2. The Hongqi H9: Traditional Eastern Luxury Craftsmanship
For executives who prefer the classic, stately format of a traditional luxury three-box sedan, the Hongqi H9 brings 8 generations of state-car lineage to Malaysian roads.

(Note: Final local powertrain, equipment, and trim specifications will be validated by Quill Group closer to the vehicle’s official commercial launch window).

The Hongqi H9 crosses swords with segments historically dominated by upper-tier European executive saloons—most notably the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and S-Class, the BMW 5 and 7 Series, as well as the Audi A6 and A8. Its most direct ideological competitor in terms of overall character, road presence, and positioning is arguably the Genesis G90, representing a distinct philosophy of applying Eastern luxury craft to a traditional executive silhouette.

In its domestic Chinese market, H9 pricing ranges from RMB 320,000 to RMB 580,000 depending on the selected variant trim. Malaysian pricing will be determined by Quill Group at launch and is expected to account for standard CBU import duties, with potential CKD assembly options being explored over the medium term to maximize local market penetration.

A Premium Retail Network on the Horizon
By introducing Hongqi, Quill Group is offering affluent Malaysian motorists something beyond raw performance figures: a sense of unparalleled occasion, dramatic presence, and unique historical heritage.

As the mid-2026 launch window approaches, prospective buyers can keep an eye out for updates on authorized flagship showrooms, localized specification sheets, and early booking pathways by following the brand’s official channels.
