Some concept cars get positive feedback and result in production-ready cars. Others end up being forgotten after a couple of years.

The BladeGlider by Nissan seems fall under the latter category. But we sort of understand the thinking behind it.

Nissan used to make some of the sportiest cars in Japan. Now their focus is on zero emissions. The BladeGlider combines these two identities.

They did go a little extreme by putting the driver in front and two passenger seats at the rear, but I’m sure this is justified too. Most 20-somethings buy cars with 5 seats and end up using just 1 90% of the time. If the BladeGlider is marketed a demographic who is aware of this wastefulness, they’ll probably see the point of the seating configuration. It’s also a little more engaging to have a dedicated pilot seat in the centre.

Having said that, it’s likely the BladeGlider will go nowhere.
