ZeroToHundred Time Attack Event

Zerotohundred.com celebrated their 10 years of being the go-to network for auto enthusiasts with a time attack challenge series dubbed ‘Time To Attack’. Over 100 cars took to the scorching tarmac of the circuit in an attempt to set the fastest lap possible for their respective categories. This time around, the cars were divided into three categories; road cars, GT/super cars and race cars and were further grouped into sub-categories according to their drivetrains and engine layout. There were a myriad of cars ranging from the track junkie’s favourites such as the Mitsubishi Evo and Honda Civic Type-R to some continental models such as a BMW E46 M3 CSL and the usual supercars like a Lamborghini Gallardo and Porsche Cayman.

Local makes were not left out as well with strong representations from the Proton line-up with a track-prepped Satria Neo and even a rare Satria Neo Clubsport. Standing out like a sore thumb, but a very quick one, was a track-prepped Perodua Myvi in Hulk Green was putting in some decent lap times.

After an adrenaline-filled day of late-braking, heel-toe downshifts and the occasional spin-out the fastest time of the day lay with drifter-extraordinaire Ee Yoong Cherng and his drift-prepped Nissan Silvia S13 that covered the track in a staggering 2:31:813. However, the leading Hall of Fame time set in the first round by Mohammed Farriz Fauzy in a Nissan GT-R R35 remains at the top of the rankings. Making that achievement all the more impressive is the fact that Round One was perpetually washed out by heavy showers and that time was set in damp conditions. The weather was on Zerotohundred.com’s side this time around with bright sunny skies that only gave way to a light drizzle right at the end of the session but even with the heat that would have been ideal conditions for some of the cars running slick tyres the leading Hall of Fame time remains unbeaten for now. ‘Time To Attack: Sepang’ is organized together with High Performance Challenge (HPC), Goodyear Malaysia, Lotus Cars and Motorsport Playground. Goodyear drove the extra mile for the event by offering tires to participants at discounts and was represented on track by the Goodyear Drift team of husband-wife pairing Ariff Johanis and Azrina Jane.

“Goodyear is proud to be part of this Zerotohundred.com event and its efforts to support the motorsports industry. We look forward to more events like these in the future,” said Nasution Abdul Rahman, Managing Director of Goodyear Malaysia, that even participated in the challenge himself. Lotus owners had a private race at the end of the challenge. The format for the five-lap race was a staggered start with the challenge lap times used to set up the starting grid. Speaking at the event, Head of Lotus Cars Malaysia, Oh Kah Beng said, “This was a very well organized event and thankfully there was no bad weather to slow us down like in Round 1 back in May. As far as all the Lotus owners here are concerned, we are all very happy with Time To Attack Round 2. Everything went smoothly and the lap times are very impressive and competitive, we are all looking forward to Round 3. The final round for ‘Time To Attack: Sepang’ will be held over two days, on 11 and 12 December 2010. This time around, only the fastest competitors will be invited back to battle it out for the final prize and the top spot on the Hall of Fame board that will remain a permanent fixture on the Zerotohundred.com website. Here are the fastest times in each category for Round two of ‘Time To Attack: Sepang.’
