Ford Figo. When will it arrive in Malaysia?

We have been missing on a wide range of city cars available to Malaysia, just like this compact Ford. Although it superficially bears a resemblance to the previous-generation Fiesta the Figo is, according to Ford, 85 percent new with body panels, grille, seats, fenders and in-car entertainment systems unique to the model. The car sits on a revised version of the previous Fiesta’s platform. A pair of 4-cylinder 1,4-litre powerplants are made available to its chassis, a Duratec petrol unit developing 62 kW and 127 N.m of torque and a 50 kW Duratorque diesel with 160 N.m on tap. Given the proven platform upon which the car is based and the Blue Oval’s reputation for producing entertaining cars, the Figo looks as though it has the potential to lift itself above budget rivals that often forsake driving dynamics in the name of cost-cutting. This is a product to rival the Suzuki Alto, Hyundai i10 Kappa and also the Perodua Viva Elite.

The Figo is being exported to South Africa from India. The Figo is also exported to Nepal and in 2011 an additional 48 international markets will start selling the popular small car. So when will the Figo arrive in Malaysia? We wait for Auto Connexion to make this entertaining car available at all their showrooms.
