Mazda3 MPS On Sale In Malaysia At RM175,000.00

The Mazda MPS is the official Mazda high-performance variant of the award winning Mazda3 and it arrives in Malaysia at a unbelievable selling price of RM175k. This is a RM35k savings over its nearest and only rival, the VW Golf GTI Mk6. Sporting more power it will surely be the car to revive Mazda’s hot hatch history in Malaysia when the 1990’s Mazda 323 Famila ‘Interplay’ was king of tarmac with its 1.8-liter, 4WD drivetrain.

The latest arrival delivers a more emotional design that takes the sporty, agile nature of the Mazda3 5-Door to a new level. The MPS blends the five-door functionality with bolder, more aggressive styling and scintillating performance.
Endowed with the award-winning MZR 2.3-litre DISI Turbo engine, the new MPS builds on the legendary performance of the original while presenting a fresh new look, as well as all-round enhancement in handling.

The new car is highly distinguishable with its factory-equipped aesthetic package. The exclusive features include a bonnet-mounted intercooler scoop, redesigned front and rear bumpers, aggressive side skirts, and 18-inch aluminum wheels shod with high-performance Dunlop tyres. Other design touches are bi-xenon headlamps, a metallic black rear valance, LED taillights, and an outstanding roof-mounted rear spoiler.

The heart of this exciting newcomer is Mazda’s MZR 2.3-litre DISI turbocharged engine, which produces -190kW (approximately 258PS) and a phenomenal 38.7kgm (approximately 380Nm) of torque. This enables the car to do the    0-100km/h sprint in 6.1 seconds, while the top speed is limited to 250km/h. To handle such levels of performance, the car is equipped with, among other features, a torque-sensing limited-slip differential, a revised six-speed manual transmission with wider gear ratios, and improved drive shafts to minimise torque steer.

The new MPS boasts of a firmer suspension with stiffer springs and higher damping rates. There is also a beefier steering rack for more accuracy and an improved steering feel, as well as an electronically-controlled brake assist system, and larger stabilisers to minimise body roll.
The body shell has been lightened and yet significantly strengthened. The MPS continues to use high-strength and ultra-high strength steel with added application of thicker sheet metal in high-stress areas and extensive use of weld bonding.

This is a high-performance car with the prerequisite firm suspension tuning but without a compromised ride comfort, while steering feel and response has been improved. Furthermore, brake feel in hard braking has been improved, while Brake Assist shortens stopping distance in panic-stop situations. The new electronically-controlled system is better at differentiating between true panic-stop situations and racing conditions. The MPS also features Traction Control and Dynamic Stability Control for added safety.

The Mazda MPS features a sporty-themed interior with special equipment, ensuring exclusivity. The Nagare-inspired exterior styling continues into the cabin, which features colour coordination and materials chosen to excite. Black is the dominant colour, while the seats and trim fabric have an organic red graphic design. Red stitching on the steering wheel, seats, door trim, shift lever boot, and center armrest enhances the sporty interior character. Significantly, the driver’s seat has been designed to provide excellent all-round support without compromising everyday comfort.
The dashboard is designed to give a roomy feel while displaying critical information closer to the driver’s field of vision and focal point. There is a new multi-information display (MID), as well as an LED turbo boost gauge positioned between the meters. Other features include Bluetooth connectivity and an improved audio system.
