HYUNDAI-SIME DARBY MOTORS LAUNCHES THE NEW GENERATION INOKOM i10
Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors Sdn Bhd (HSDM) has launched the new generation Inokom i10 1.25 Kappa CVVT (a licensed product from Hyundai Motor Company), which features a fresh new look and an upgraded engine. The i10 1.25 Kappa comes with a new Continuously Variable Value Timing (CVVT) technology that delivers a higher maximum power of 63.9kW@6000rpm as well as a higher maximum torque of 119.6Nm@4000rpm. Both the 1.25 Kappa CVVT and the 1.1 Epsilon were designed to deliver improved engine efficiency, optimized fuel consumption, low emission and class leading performance.
The new generation i10 also comes with an upgraded steering technology, using the Motor-Driven Power Steering (MDPS) which not only improves the steering quality but also enhances the fuel efficiency of the vehicle.
The adoption of the MDPS technology in this vehicle segment is also unique. With MDPS, the hydraulic pump and ancillaries are removed resulting in the overall weight reduction of the car. It also eliminates power steering maintenance and oil leakages.
The new generation i10 also incorporates new design elements on the exterior as well as the interior. The front exterior includes a set of new reshaped wrap-around headlights, chrome surround fog lamps as well as a new dynamic hexagonal grille with its deeply moulded eye-catching Inokom logo.
The i10 1.25 Kappa CVVT also spots a new rear spoiler that enhances its sporty look, as well as the new bold rear bumper and elongated combination lamps. The new i10 1.25 Kappa CVVT is also equipped with a pair of new wing mirrors that come with an LED side indicator. To add on to the already sporty and sleek look, the car is now fitted with new alloy rims wheels.
The interior of the i10 1.25 Kappa CVVT, as well as the i10 1.1 Epsilon, has also been improved and styled to give luxurious comfort to passengers and driver of the car.
The dashboard is enhanced with blue instrument illumination, which adds to the sophisticated stylish feel. To keep the driver better informed of the car, the dashboard also has a new instrument cluster with a digital gear indicator, fuel gauge and a full range of other warning and alert lights.
What’s new compared to the first i10 launched in Malaysia is the entertainment system, which features a CD player with MP3 compatibility, an added USB/auxiliary input and a remote control. This will surely add to the fun of driving this new generation compact.
Safety and security features are not compromised, Hyundai has also made vast improvements in this new compact (both active and passive safety features) to ensure occupants’ safety.
It features a 13-inch front disc and large 7-inch rear drums together with the 4-channel ABS and standard brake booster, as well as assistant systems for better braking power and non-skid security.
The top-of-the line i10 model is also equipped with two airbags with pretensioners for the safety of the driver and front passenger. The i10 incorporates a reinforced body structure incorporating high-tensile steel allowing the vehicle to achieve a 4 Star Euro New Car Assessment Programme (EuroNCAP). The new generation i10 is probably one of the easiest cars to park as it is also equipped with a reverse parking sensor to ensure better safety.
The i10 1.25 Kappa CVVT is available in four colours – Alpine Blue, Ice Silver, Crystal White and Oyster Grey. This compares with 5 colours for the i10 1.1 Epsilon, namely, Crystal White, Stone Black, Ice Silver, Champagne Gold and Alpine Blue.
The 1.25 CVVT (standard specifications) is priced at RM50,688 (on-the-road), while the 1.25 CVVT (high specifications) is priced at RM53,988 (on-the road). These two new vehicles, together with the i10 1.1 Epsilon auto (standard specifications) priced at RM47,988 (on-the-road), are available at all authorised Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors sales outlets starting from 8 July 2011.
