Chevy’s Latest Captiva In Malaysia Now For RM153,888.00

Chevrolet Malaysia (Naza Quest Sdn. Bhd.) has introduces the new Chevrolet Captiva that is set to captivate the Malaysian crowd. Sporting the ‘Chevrolet face’ – Chevrolet’s new design DNA that is accentuated by the signature dual-port grille and larger, grained golden bowtie (the mark of 100 years of excellence in the automotive industry) – the new Captiva boasts a list of first-in-class new features for SUVs in its class. The immediately noticeable front-end of the new Captiva, features a completely re-sculptured front bumper, a sharper bonnet, prism projector headlamps, foglamps and LED turn indicator signals on the side mirrors. All models are equipped with 18 inch alloy wheels, which will further improve handling in addition to enhanced aesthetics.
The interior, with a five or seven seating configuration, is redesigned with metallic materials, a more user-friendly layout and additional storage spaces, exquisite leather upholstery with air-conditioning for the third-row seats.
Some of the firsts found in the new Captiva include an electrically-operated parking brake that not only enhances ease of use, but further freeing up more useful storage space. Other features include a three-dimensional audio system or 3D Sound Staging and a multi-function, four-spoke steering wheel which incorporates controls for cruise control, audio and air-conditioning – the latter another first-in-class. The new Captiva also receives updated powertrains, thanks to the new E85-capable 2.4L in-line four-cylinder ECOTEC gasoline engine featuring double overhead camshafts (DOHC) with Double Continuously Variable Cam-Phasing (Double CVC) system which replaces the previous engine of the same capacity. The power of the new ECOTEC unit also provides more power compared to the previous engine, 100kW to 123kW and from 220Nm to 225 Nm. The engine power is transferred to the driving wheels via, six-speed automatic transmission which features Driver Shift Control (DSC) – a function which allows the driver to have manual control over gear changes. It also comes with an ‘ECO’ mode which is programmed to help reduce fuel consumption in all driving conditions. The ‘ECO’ mode can be switched off via a selector button next to the gear lever.
The suspension of the new Captiva consists of independent Macpherson struts at the front and independent multi-link at the rear, developed to enhance driving performance and handling without sacrificing comfort. The all-wheel drive is controlled by electronics to provide balanced driving force to all four wheels in any given situation. Safety is also a priority in the new Captiva – it features active and passive safety systems including dual front airbags as standard supplemented by curtain airbags, disc brakes on all four wheels (ventilated at the front) with anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), traction control, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) including anti-rollover protection (ARP) and self-levelling suspension system (Self-Levelizer).
The new Captiva also features ‘Hill Start Assist’– a feature not found in other SUVs in its class. This feature prevents the vehicle from rolling backwards when the brakes are released on a slope. It also features ‘Hill Descent Control’ which helps the Captiva maintain a constant speed when descending steep slopes to maximize traction and control. The new Captiva is available in five body colors – Auburn Brown, Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Royal Gray, Tornado Red and Sterling Silver. Prices for the new Chevrolet Captiva is RM153,888 and is available at all Chevrolet showrooms nationwide. For more information about the new Chevrolet Captiva visit www.chevrolet.com.my
