0Mini Coupe At Frankfurt Motor Show
Mini would prefer it if you saw the 2012 Coupe as a pure sports car. And it’s true that in its two-seat configuration and three-box design, its outline has far more in common with traditional purpose-built sports cars than any other to wear the Mini badge. It will be offered with three four-cylinder engine choices, topped by a 208-hp John Cooper Works model. Six-speed manual and automatic gearboxes are available, depending on the version. The coupe is claimed to have the best acceleration ever for a Mini, to the tune of a 6.1-second 0-to-60-mph time and it can reach a top speed of 149 mph. The so-called “helmet roof” is shown more clearly and camo-free for the first time in these shots. It comes standard in a contrasting color from the body. Aerodynamics are fortified with spoilers on the roof and in the rear; the latter deploys automatically at 50 mph. Despite its two-seat setup, there is stowage space behind the front seats and a wide-opening tailgate.
