Range Rover Evoque to make its debut in the Dakar Rally

The UK-based Excite Rallye Raid Team has disclosed its equipment and driver lineup for the 2012 and the 2013 Dakar Rally. The team will be having three vehicles specially commissioned from RaBe Race Cars. These vehicles will be driven by Martin Rowe, Andrew Coley and John Hardy. The Excite Rallye Raid is the only all-British Dakar Rally team to join the Dakar Rally in 2013. In fact, it is the first professional, all-British team to ever set sights on the Dakar Rally. The team combines world-class drivers with an experienced marketing, management and support crew, working with the reliable RaBe Race Cars. Business Manager David Jones revealed that they have been working on this project “for a long time,” adding that they had to change their strategy because of the current economic situation. He added that while looking at the level of media coverage for rally raid events, they realized that to secure the necessary backing, they needed to secure the coverage across all media. Jones further stated that they are “confident” that they have done that.
Moreover, Jones revealed that RaBe Race Cars has been monitoring their progress for a couple of years, adding that when it saw their professional approach, RaBe Race Cars asked if they could work together. Jones further stated that they have now set their sights a bit higher, fitting perfectly with their other goal of achieving the right level of financial backing.
