SCIROCCO R: RACE TRACK PERFORMANCE, ON ROAD EXCITEMENT, RM279,888.00

The Scirocco, already an award-winning machine in Malaysia, will have its range extended to include the ultimate Scirocco, which wears the prestigious ‘R’ badge. The most powerful Scirocco makes its debut in Malaysia for the first time as a road-going car, having successfully featured in the Scirocco R-Cup series at the Sepang International Circuit last year. This is the third car to have the R badge in Malaysia following the introductions of the Golf R and Passat CC R-Line last month.
The 2.0-litre TSI of the Scirocco R attains a maximum power of 255PS at 6,000rpm. Its maximum torque – a hefty 330Nm – is available over an immense range of engine speed: 2,400 to 5,200rpm. Drivers who downshift and unleash the car’s power at full throttle awaken a different side of the Scirocco R: a car with motorsport DNA that can sprint from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 6.0 seconds. Top speed: 250kph Volkswagen sends the Scirocco R onto the streets with a specially tuned sport chassis and XDS electronic transverse differential lock on the front axle as standard equipment.
The latter refers to a functional extension of the electronic differential lock (EDS) that is integrated in the ESP system and effectively eliminates any type of traction loss. The Scirocco R comes standard with Adaptive Chassis Control (DCC) Standard equipment includes R-specific 19-inch alloy wheels (“Talladega” type) with size 235/35 tyres. Similar to the Golf R, the brakes were modified to handle the higher level of driving performance (including a 17-inch instead of 16-inch system). The front end of the Scirocco R is characterised by three large air intakes in the bumper customised for the Scirocco R. Integrated as standard equipment on the right and left in the area of the two outboard air intakes are LED daytime running lights. In front, as at the rear, the Scirocco R is identified by an R logo. Providing for perfect illumination of the roadway, meanwhile, are standard bi-xenon headlights. Compared to all other standard models, the rear image of the Scirocco R is dominated by a considerably larger roof edge spoiler and a prominent glossy black diffuser in the lower section of the bumper that reflects typical R-design. In addition, the rear lights of the new Scirocco R were given a smoked tint. Identifying features from a side perspective are new side sills painted in body colour and “Talladega” alloy wheels. The outside mirrors of the Scirocco R are always painted a glossy black, independent of the body colour. The Scirocco R’s interior expresses an altogether refined appearance.
As on the Golf R, special interior accents, sport seats and numerous other special features were realised. Standard equipment include dual-zone automatic climate control (“Climatronic”) and the “RNS 510” satellite navigation system with CD player, MP3 playback function, dual tuners, USB & AUX-IN port. Additionally, the car has a panoramic tilting glass roof, motorsport bucket seats, DYNAUDIO ‘Excite’ 300W, 8-speaker premium sound system, ‘Keyless Access’ keyless locking and starting system.
The Scirocco R is offered in six different colours; Candy White, Viper Green, Rising Blue, Reflex Silver, Iridium Grey and Deep Black. Inside, the car’s seats are wrapped in sporty Vienna leather. Priced at RM279,888, the Scirocco R is available at all Volkswagen authorised dealerships nationwide. For more information, visit our website at www.volkswagen.com.my or the R-models microsite at www.r-series.my.
