PERODUA kicks off road safety campaign for festive season

PERODUA has joined forces with the Road Safety Department of Malaysia to enhance road safety awareness among road users during the upcoming festive period with the launch of the PERODUA Road Safety Campaign. The campaign was launched today at the Sungai Buloh Overhead Bridge Rest and Service Area with PERODUA offering free 22 point inspection for all PERODUA vehicles. PERODUA staff were also present to distribute road safety pamphlets and flyers to expressway users.

“This PERODUA Road Safety Campaign is part of our corporate responsibility programme. It is very much in line with PERODUA’s Brand tagline “Because You Matter Most,” PERODUA Managing Director Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh said at the launch. Director General of the Road Safety Department Mr Leslie Leon who represented Deputy Minister of Transport Yang Berhormat Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri, flagged off the PERODUA Road Safety Campaign. Aminar said PERODUA also held its road safety campaign at major areas along the main trunk roads within Peninsular Malaysia.

The company has also agreed to participate in the “Petronas Coffee Break” campaign during the Balik Kampung rush and during the commuters’ journey back after the festive season. PERODUA will also offer 22 point free inspection to owners of PERODUA vehicles at the Tapah (northbound) and Ayer Keroh Overhead Bridge (southbound) rest & service areas on the 15-17 August 2012 and only at the Ayer Keroh Overhead Bridge R&R (northbound) from 24-26 Aug 2012.
During this PERODUA Road Safety campaign period, the company also offered free inspection for PERODUA vehicle owners via the Tweckbot service. This is the third time PERODUA offered the service for PERODUA vehicle owners to use their Twitter, Facebook account or Short Messaging Service (SMS) to book for the inspection of the vehicles. This service was offered during the last Hari Raya and Chinese New Year festivals.

The service was flagged off on 13 -15 July 2012 covering major towns in the northern states of Kedah and Perlis. The Tweckbot teams also covered major urban areas in Trengganu, Pahang, Johor and Klang Valley during the month-long campaign. “
“We received good response from our customers and the public for providing this free check via Tweckbot service,” Aminar said. Yang Berhormat Datuk Abdul Rahim in his speech delivered by Mr Leon said “OPS Sikap 25” traffic campaign held during the last Chinese New Year season has brought positive results with the lower deaths and number of accidents recorded. “All of us can do our part to enhance road safety awareness and I hope this can lead to fewer road accidents and fatalities during future festive seasons,” he added.
