Volvo V40 Sets Best Ever Overall Record In NCAP

The all news Volvo V40 has passed the European NCAP collision test, setting a record on this crash safety test. The Swedish company has always prided itself on its reputation for safety. Volvo’s S60 model got the top rating in the new IIHS crash test. The V40 now holds the record for best-ever overall results recorded on the Euro NCAP test. There are four categories in this Euro NCAP test. These are adult’s occupant protection, child protection, pedestrian protection, and safety assist. The V40 got a 98% rating on the protection for adults category, the highest result ever recorded in this test. The V40 got the highest points possible in the safety assist category.

It also set a new record for pedestrian protection, attributed to Volvo’s new pedestrian airbag. Thomas Broberg, Senior Technical Advisor Safety at Volvo Car Corporation, said that its “fantastic result” stands for another major step in attaining its 2020 target, which is for no death or serious injury to result from riding a Volvo. “A fantastic result. We are very proud to have one of the world’s safest cars and we’re taking yet another important step toward our 2020 target – that nobody should die or be seriously injured in a Volvo,” says Thomas Broberg, Senior Technical Advisor Safety at Volvo Car Corporation.
