Ford Expands Ranger XL Line Up with Double Cab Lo-Rider and Single Cab Variants

Ford today added two new variants to its all-new Ranger XL line up in Malaysia – the 2.2L XL 4×4 Single Cab and the 2.2L XL 4×2 Double Cab Lo-Rider with manual five-speed transmission launched at RM71,888* and RM69,999*, respectively.

Fleet buyers and truck lovers who insist on a tough utility vehicle that works hard and looks great will be spoilt for choice with these 5-speed all-new Ford Ranger XL variants powered by the proven Duratorq TDCi 2.2L diesel engine that delivers 120 PS of power and 285 Nm of torque.

These additional variants also offer impressive fuel consumption from as low as 8.9L/100 km2. This fuel consumption figure, combined with the 80-litre fuel tank featured in both variants, gives customers a range of 1,000 kilometres before having to stop for a fill-up. All engines have also been calibrated to meet the most stringent emission standards wherever Ford Rangers are sold.
Built to Take on the Toughest Challenges
The resilient and muscular all-new Ford Ranger XL variants have been developed to tackle the most challenging on-road and off-road conditions. Both the all-new Ranger XL Single Cab and Double Cab Lo-Rider sport best-in-class loading capacity of more than one tonne – a welcome benefit for customers, especially commercial users looking to transport heavy materials.
The all-new Ford Ranger XL Single Cab also boasts class-leading water-wading capability of 800 millimetres, even when fully laden, and excellent ground clearance of 200 millimetres, enabling drivers of to go deeper and climb higher.
Additionally, the all-new Ford Ranger XL Single Cab offers segment-leading towing capacity of 2,500 kgs while the all-new Ranger XL Double Cab Lo-Rider features a towing capacity of 2,200 kgs.
The power and capability in the turbocharged all-new Ford Ranger XL Double Cab Lo-Rider make this vehicle the most powerful in its Lo-Rider segment, giving truck lovers even more reasons to consider the all-new Ford Ranger XL.

Accolades & Awards Won
Since its launch in mid-2012, the all-new Ford Ranger has picked up six awards in Malaysia, most recently edging out four other contenders to win Autoworld’s “Members’ Choice Award” chosen entirely by Autoworld’s online community members. The all-new Ford Ranger’s win was particularly notable as it beat out the competition by a more than 50-percent voting margin. In the same awards night, the all-new Ford Ranger also won “Best Pick-Up Truck.”

Other accolades for the all-new Ranger include the significant milestone of dominating the New Straits Times-Maybank Car of the Year 2012 Awards (COTY) by becoming the first pickup truck in the COTY Awards’ 11-year history to capture the coveted “Overall Car of the Year” award in addition to being named “Pick-up Truck of the Year.” It was also awarded “Best Value for Money Pick-up Truck” by the Asian Auto Allianz Auto Industry Awards 2012.

The newly introduced all-new Ford Ranger XL Single Cab and Double Cab Lo-Rider are now open for booking and test drives at all Ford showrooms nationwide. Ford will launch these variants in Peninsular Malaysia 6 May, and in Sabah and Sarawak 15 May.
