Naza Bikes Enters Indo-China with Investment of RM1.5m

NAZA World has yet again taken steps to expand its business and brand presence abroad by setting up a NAZA Bikes 3S showroom in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The market-entrance into Cambodia marks the introduction of the NAZA’s own brand of motorcycles, NAZA Bikes, to the ASEAN region. The company is all geared-up to win over 10% of the market share or more than 30,000 units of various models, within the next 3 years.

RM 1.5 million of NAZA’s own investment went in to developing the 7000 sq ft 3S showroom (including the facility, after-sales service tools and equipment, spare parts stock and motorcycles), which is strategically located in Cambodia’s capital city, Phnom Penh.  NAZA Bikes will offer its popular NZ 125R, NAZA Blade 250 and NAZA Blade 650 motorcycle models, catering to the demand for competitively priced and fuel-efficient, high performance motorcycles.

In NAZA Bikes’ efforts to become a regional player, despite the higher risk, we are developing the showroom with our own investment. Growing a business requires tenacity and as entrepreneurs, we must be bold in the face of challenges when dealing with the international market. In business, no one ever moves forward by playing it safe,” shared Datuk Wira SM Faisal Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin, Joint Group Executive Chairman of NAZA Group of Companies.

Datuk Wira SM Faisal further iterated that; “NAZA Bikes began planning its venture into Cambodia two years ago. We chose Cambodia as the starting point for the brand’s international growth based on extensive research of its market, culture and the opportunities that the country presents for our business sustainability and future expansion. Cambodia’s market continues to thrive and the country currently has an estimated 1.8 million registered vehicles – some 300,000 are cars and the rest are predominantly motorcycles and trucks. An increase of 8 percent from 2011 to 2012 is a clear indication that the time is ripe for NAZA Bikes to invest in Cambodia,”

“Our long term goal is to become a full-fledged manufacturer with the ability to produce Malaysian indigenous motorcycles that are internationally recognized and can stand up to the popular Japanese motorcycle brands. We hope to eventually assemble our own products in Cambodia and to help with our sales, we are looking at appointing 10 to 20 dealers in 2014.” added Datuk Wira SM Faisal.

The showroom in Phnom Penh, is expected to be opened by August 2013. The business will be headed by NAZA’s Malaysian staff whilst the locals will fill positions as sales and operation personnel. With Cambodia being the benchmark, NAZA Bikes plans to further extend its reach throughout the ASEAN region over the next two years – including operations in Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar and Laos.
