New MINI John Cooper Works Family Arrives In Malaysia

MINI Malaysia has introduced four new MINI John Cooper Works models, the ultra-sporty variant of the iconic MINI that further stands out from the crowd. The new performance MINI are not only famous for their UNTAMED engine and chassis technology which are developed on the back of established racing expertise but also for bespoke exterior and interior design which ensures that the special character of the John Cooper Works (JCW) signature is instantly recognisable.

MINI John Cooper Works hatch.
A MINI is always capable of more – both on the race track and on the road. And the John Cooper Works brand logo is the most obvious evidence of the premium British car’s maximum performance capacity. The MINI John Cooper Works hatch is powered by a 1,598 cc four-cylinder engine with an output of 155 kW/211 hp, boasting a twin-scroll turbocharger, petrol direct injection and fully variable valve control. This technology package guarantees further increased spontaneity in response to accelerator movements as well as a level of efficiency which is unique in its performance class. The MINI John Cooper Works hatch comes standard with a six speed automatic transmission with Steptronic functions which allows manual intervention in the choice of gear – either using a selector lever in the central console or by means of shift paddles connected directly to the steering wheel.
The MINI John Cooper Works hatch sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds with the  top speed of 236 km/h. Average fuel consumption is 7.4 and the level of CO2 emissions is 165 grams per kilometre. In addition to the high-quality suspension with MacPherson spring struts at the front and the centrally guided rear axle that is quite unique in the subcompact segment, the Electric Power Steering is a further guarantee of safe and alluringly precise handling. The Electric Power Steering allows two control maps to be programmed. As an alternative to the balanced basic setting it is possible to select a dynamically oriented control map which provides higher levels of steering torque and increased precision. This is activated by the Sport Button which is positioned in front of the gearshift lever or selector lever in the centre console. The Sport Button also influences the accelerator control map, the engine sound, and shortens gearshift times making for especially intensive acceleration manoeuvres.

The sports brake system, likewise a standard feature, contributes to maximum agility. It is based on an engineering principle derived from motor racing and involves such elements as 4-piston fixed calliper brakes with inner-vented discs at the front wheels. The sports brake system can be recognised by the aluminium brake callipers finished in red and bearing the John Cooper Works emblem. The exclusive fittings of the MINI John Cooper Works include 17-inch light-alloy wheels in Cross Spoke Challenge design.
Standard trim also includes the John Cooper Works aerodynamic kit with distinctive front and rear apron as well as specific side sills. The dual-pipe sports exhaust system not only creates a striking sound, it also adds a dash of visual flair with its centrally placed stainless steel tailpipes. A distinguishing mark both in the lower air inlet and at the rear of the vehicle is the John Cooper Works emblem. The John Cooper Works inscription appears on the side turn indicator surrounds in chrome and the door sill strips. In the interior, the standard fittings of the MINI John Cooper Works hatch boast a strikingly impressive elegance which is both simple and sporty in style. A three-spoke sports steering wheel finished in leather with red contrast stitching and John Cooper Works emblem on the centre spoke forms the interface between driver and sports machine. The MINI John Cooper Works also comes standard with MINI Visual Boost including MINI Connected, a Harman Kardon Sound System and Xenon Headlights.

MINI John Cooper Works Coupe.
The MINI John Cooper Works Coupé makes its case with inspirational agility and impressive performance. Its eye-catching exterior design is complemented by bespoke features aimed primarily at optimising the car’s aerodynamics. Added to which, the sharp go-kart feeling is taken to another new level thanks to the increased torsional stiffness of the body structure and the car’s weight balance.
The MINI John Cooper Works Coupé comes as standard with a John Cooper Works aerodynamic kit comprising distinctive front and rear aprons and bespoke side skirts. The 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine with twin-scroll turbocharger, direct injection and fully variable valve control develops 155 kW/211 hp, imbuing the MINI John Cooper Works Coupé with unrestrained power and giving it the tools to do what MINI does best – entertaining drivers. Its power is channelled through the front wheels via a six-speed automatic gearbox with Steptronic function as standard. The infectious spirit and verve of the MINI John Cooper Works Coupé is reflected in its ability to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.4 seconds and achieve a top speed of 240 km/h. Average fuel consumption in the EU test cycle stands at 7.4 l/100 km, giving CO2 emissions of 165 grams per kilometre. A sports exhaust system with twin stainless steel tailpipes positioned in the centre of the rear apron gives the engine the soundtrack to match its character. Smile-inducing agility and precise handling are the specialities of the MINI John Cooper Works Coupé’s advanced chassis technology, which includes a front axle with MacPherson spring struts, central link rear suspension and Electric Power Steering with speed-sensitive power assistance.
The MINI John Cooper Works Coupé’s standard-fitted Sport Button allows the driver to adjust the car’s responses to an extremely dynamic setting. A press of the Sport Button tweaks the responses of the accelerator and also activates a dynamically focused power steering setting with sharper gear shifts. Likewise playing its part in heightening the go-kart feeling are 17-inch, low-weight light-alloy wheels in Cross Spoke Challenge Design and the sports braking system, whose red painted aluminium callipers bear the John Cooper Works logo. Another identifying feature is the sport seats leather lounge in championship red/ carbon black combination interior and a wide variety of in-car infotainment function offered by the MINI Visual Boost including MINI Connected with a Harman Kardon Sound system. The MINI John Cooper Works Coupé also includes the Xenon Headlights as standard.

MINI John Cooper Works Countryman.
For the first time, the passion for racing can be enjoyed in combination with all-wheel drive. The MINI John Cooper Works Countryman, equipped as standard with the ALL4 all-wheel-drive system and powered by a newly developed turbocharged four-cylinder engine, lays on extreme driving fun on any terrain. Together, its powertrain and chassis technology – developed on the back of extensive motor sport expertise – and the overall concept of the first MINI with five doors and five seats allow the hallmark characteristics of a John Cooper Works model to take the leap into another new segment. The 1.6-litre four-cylinder fitted in the MINI John Cooper Works Countryman develops a maximum output of 160 kW/218 hp, and its peak torque of 280 Newton metres can be increased to as much as 300 Newton metres for short bursts using the overboost function, with the sports exhaust system ensuring that this impressive power delivery enjoys the soundtrack it deserves. Fitted with a six-speed automatic with steptronic, the MINI John Cooper Works Countryman requires just 7.0 seconds to sprint from 0-100km/h with a maximum speed of 223km/h. However, the optimised efficiency of the engine and the array of MINIMALISM technology on board keep fuel consumption and emissions impressively low given the performance available. The MINI John Cooper Works Countryman records average fuel consumption of 8.3 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 184 grams per kilometre in the EU test cycle.
The MINI John Cooper Works Countryman is the first member of this ultra-sporting family to channel its engine’s extreme output onto the road surface through all four wheels. The new car’s standard ALL4 all-wheel-drive system uses an electromagnetic centre differential to distribute drive seamlessly between the front and rear axles. This means power is always sent to the wheels where it can be transferred most effectively into forward propulsion. In normal driving situations ALL4 diverts 50 per cent of the engine’s power to the rear wheels, rising to as much as 100 per cent in extreme conditions. This provides a traction-led expression of the handling talents for which MINI is famed. Whatever the weather and road conditions, the car will deliver unbeatable directional stability and dynamic capability at all times.
The standard aerodynamics kit gives the new John Cooper Works model eye catching looks and optimises the flow of air around its body by lending extra muscle to the front and rear apron and adding bespoke side skirts. Meanwhile, the John Cooper Works logo stamps the car’s identity very literally on the radiator grille, tailgate, door sill strips and side indicator surrounds. Inside the car, the impressive practicality of the MINI Countryman concept is laced with sporting flourishes. Sport seats with Lounge Leather trim in Carbon Black Championship Red add further depth to the sports car ambience while a sports steering wheel with red contrast stitching and John Cooper Works logo, a dark speedometer and rev counter dials, an anthracite-coloured roof liner, a gearshift lever knob with red shift diagram, red contrast stitching for the gearshift lever gaiter, and floor mats with red stitching all provide the driver with a distinct racer feel. MINI Visual Boost with MINI Connected, a Harman Kardon Speakers and Xenon Headlights are all fitted as standard in the MINI John Cooper Works Countryman.
MINI John Cooper Works Paceman

The MINI John Cooper Works Paceman combines mouth watering sporting flair with inimitable style to introduce a new dimension to driving excitement to the premium compact segment. The compact three-door model blends the charisma of the first Sports Activity Coupé in its class with race-bred powertrain and chassis technology and the standard presence of ALL4 all-wheel drive. Driver and passengers can lap up the resultant sensation of race competition and the interior’s characteristic sports car ambience from the MINI John Cooper Works Paceman’s four individual seats.
The MINI John Cooper Works Paceman cuts an imposing figure before it has so much as turned a wheel. With its powerfully formed front end, the elegantly sporty, stretched lines of the silhouette (with its long doors and side windows), the coupé-style roof swooping downwards towards the rear and a broad tail end, the three-door car greets your first glance with a wave of forward-surging intent and the promise of fleet-footed agility. Its performance-maxing character is further emphasised by an aerodynamic kit that comes as standard on the MINI John Cooper Works Paceman, along with lowered sports suspension and 19-inch Cross Spoke Crusher light-alloy wheels.
The 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine powering the MINI John Cooper Works Paceman boasts a twin-scroll turbocharger, petrol direct injection and variable valve control develops output of 160 kW/218 hp and peak torque of 280 Newton. The overboost function allows torque to be increased to 300 Newton metres for short periods between 2,100 and 4,500 rpm, placing gratifyingly vivacious bursts of mid-range acceleration at the driver’s disposal. The sports exhaust system provides this power delivery with a suitably stirring soundtrack.
The engine sends its power through a six-speed automatic gearbox with a Steptronic function, which allows the driver to change gear manually using the selector lever on the centre console or via the shift paddles on the steering wheel. The MINI John Cooper Works Paceman sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds on the way to a top speed of 224 km/h. The engine’s inherent efficiency and extensive MINIMALISM technology ensure exceptionally low fuel consumption and emissions for this output class. The MINI John Cooper Works Paceman posts average fuel consumption of 8.3 litres per 100 kilometres and CO2 emissions of 184 grams per kilometre in the EU test cycle. The MINI John Cooper Works Paceman channels the extraordinary power produced by its front mounted transverse engine through all four wheels as standard. The ALL4 all-wheel-drive system uses an electromagnetic centre differential to distribute drive seamlessly between the front and rear axles. This means power is always sent to the wheels where it can be translated most effectively into forward propulsion. In normal driving situations ALL4 diverts a maximum 50 per cent of the engine’s power to the rear wheels, rising to as much as 100 per cent in extreme conditions.
Another key player in giving the MINI John Cooper Works Paceman its sky-high levels of driving fun is chassis technology optimised specially for the new model; a MacPherson spring-strut front axle, central link rear axle, Electric Power Steering and an ultra-high-performance braking system with red callipers make a potent team. The standard sports suspension has a dynamically optimised spring/damper set-up and stronger anti-roll bars, and is lowered by 10 millimetres. The standard-fitted aerodynamic kit, with its particularly muscular front and rear aprons and bespoke side skirts, ensures the air flow around the car is even more efficient. John Cooper Works logos on the radiator grille, tailgate and door sill strips as well as next to the side indicators provide additional confirmation of the car’s identity. Other standard features of the MINI John Cooper Works Paceman is the 19-inch light-alloy wheels in Cross Spoke Crusher design and MINI Visual Boost with MINI Connected, Harman Kardon Speakers and Xenon Headlights.

The all-new MINI John Cooper Works models will be available only in black and contrasting chilli red roof and mirror caps.
