Yes, finally Volkswagen product planners have decided to release the hot hatch Polo GTI with a bigger engine. The Polo GTI heart will be switched from the current 1.4-liter TSI to a bigger 1.8-liter TSI. We are talking about the new unit from the EA888 engine family which is now already offered in the all new Audi A3, VW Golf and SEAT Leon FR. This new engine produces 180bhp and 250Nm of torque.

The bigger engine won’t necessarily add more weight or lower fuel economy, so it might just be a good idea to compete with the new competitors coming into the segment. Other things about the Polo GTI, like the red accents or specific wheel design, will remain true to form, keeping VW fans happy.
