0Lexus Luxury MPV Coming
Lexus is slowly but surely completing its lineup by filling out every niche. The latest model set to fill a gap is the NX compact crossover set to debut later this year at the Beijing Auto Show. But it seems that fans have now another request – a one-box van.
The request comes from the boss of one of the biggest Japanese Lexus dealerships, who, as other chauffeur-driven executive or high roller, finds the LS flagship sedan a bit too cramped for taking more than two business associates in for a short trip to a high class restaurant in town. They need something like a mobile office luxury van to better suit these king of applications.
“If I go out to dinner with four people, I can’t take my chauffeured LS,” the dealer said. Instead, he takes his Toyota Alphard van, which comes with a considerably more room, but less luxury. “There is space to change my clothes, and I can go to a funeral and a wedding in the same day.”
Mercedes-Benz currently offers the V-Class luxury MPV so why Lexus couldn’t do the same? Just try and picture yourself a Vellfire with spindle grille, L-shaped daytime running lights, aggressive headlamps and a premium NuLuxe interior with individual captain chairs, screens and a minibar.
