Toyota ALPHARD & PREVIA Now Officially Sold In Malaysia With Full After-Sales Support & Warranty
After sitting in the sidelines and watching the ‘gray’ (reconditioned used vehicle) importers earn millions of ringgit selling Toyota’s super popular MPV’s the Alphard and Previa (also known as the Estima) for the past many years, auto giant UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd, the official distributor of Toyota vehicles in Malaysia has woken up to this growing market segment and is now offering the Toyota Alphard and Toyota Previa as part of the line-up for the Malaysian market.
Unlike the vehicles which are imported by other parties who purchase them from used car dealers in Japan, the Alphard and Previa distributed by UMW Toyota Motor are sourced directly from Toyota factories in Japan. This is a guarantee of the same superior quality as other vehicles sold by UMW Toyota Motor.
And as with virtually all vehicles sold by the company, there is a manufacturer’s warranty of 3 years or 100,000 kms (whichever occurs first after original registration). Besides this warranty which covers manufacturing defects that occur during the period of coverage, owners can also have peace of mind knowing that should there be any technical issues which need to be rectified in later years, they are assured of the full support of UMW Toyota Motor to provide parts and qualified technical assistance. This is not possible with vehicles which are imported by other parties.
Full after-sales support, including servicing by technicians trained by Toyota, can be obtained at no less than 72 authorised Toyota service centres nationwide. Availability of Toyota Genuine Parts for both models is guaranteed as part of the commitment to satisfaction throughout the entire ownership experience of a Toyota vehicle. Power for the Toyota Previa comes from the proven Toyota 2AZ-FE petrol engine, a 2.4-litre DOHC 16-valve unit with VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence). Power delivery goes to the front wheels via a Super ECT automatic transmission which has the option of manual gear selection if the driver prefers to do his own shifting. Electronic controls refine the operation of the transmission as the gearshifts are coordinated with the running of the engine.
Customers have a choice of two proven Toyota engines for their Alphard – a 3.5-litre, 24-valve, V6, Dual VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence) engine with ACIS (Acoustic Control Induction System) to enhance torque delivery over a broader engine speed range or a 2.4-litre, 16-valve, 4-cylinder, VVT-i engine.
The Alphard 3.5G has a 6-speed Super ECT Automatic Transmission while the Alphard 2.4G uses a 7-speed CVT. Both types of transmissions offer the driver the option of selecting gears manually if desired.
In view of good demand, UMW Toyota Motor is officially introducing these value for money models with on-the-road price of RM258,000 for the Previa 2.4 GL, RM338,000 for the Alphard 2.4G and RM 398,000 for the Alphard 3.5G. Currently, UMW Toyota Motor is offering an introductory package of three years free service, first year free road tax and insurance to the first 300 customers.
Furthermore, all vehicles that are distributed by UMW Toyota Motor have technical specifications which are suited for Malaysian conditions as Toyota engineers have conducted thorough studies of road and climatic conditions.
