BMW Introduces 4 Series Gran Coupe and the First BMW Motorrad models assembled in Thailand
BMW Group Malaysia has introduced the latest addition to its new BMW 4 Series family, the All-New BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé which marks the introduction of the first-ever BMW compact executive sedan coupé to feature four-doors with the perfect balance of excellent functionality and outstanding coupé sophistication.
With its elongated roofline cleverly accentuating the elegance and extravagance of hallmark BMW coupé propotions, the All-New BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé establishes a new benchmark within its segment with unrivalled dynamic performance, exceptional comfort and remarkable versatility. In additon to improved access and seating comfort for occupants, the cars wide-opening tailgate and best-in-class luggage capacity contribute to the emotional appeal and everyday functionality of the elegant four-door BMW Coupé.
Under the hood is a powerful BMW TwinPower Turbo engine delivering superb dynamic performance combined with low fuel consumption and emissions. Engineered with BMW EfficientDynamics, the All-New BMW 428i Gran Coupé features a new anticipatory gearshift strategy for sport and comfort mode, allowing effective transmission adjustments to better match the road layout ahead for either a fast, sporty response (Sport mode) or a comfort-focused shift program with fewer gearshifts (Comfort mode).
During the introduction of the All-New BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe, BMW Group Malaysia also unveiled two new BMW Motorrad models, the new BMW F 800 R and BMW 800 GS. The new motorcycles from BMW are now assembled at the BMW Group’s plant in Thailand and will provide Malaysians with amplified accessibility to an even wider range of premium motorcycles with enhanced substance and priced competitively.
Best described as light, agile and fast, the new BMW F 800 R delivers impressive handling, balance and power output to ensure pure riding enjoyment at all times. The new naked roadster is also built on great ergonomics combined with a firm chassis and perfectly balanced geometry, while its masculine design and minimalist lines deliver highly attractive motorcycle purism.
Meanwhile, the new BMW F 800 GS joins the big GS family as the ultimate versatile enduro machine with sporty genes. By breaking all boundaries with supreme confidence, through any situation and on any surface, on or off the road, the new BMW F 800 GS delivers all-round capabilities for everyday use and more than sufficient power while also offering outstanding fuel economy. The new BMW F 800 GS is also among the front-runners when it comes to safety.
The arrival of the new roadster and enduro models are a further testament to BMW’s commitment towards delivering pure riding enjoyment and safety. Both the new BMW F 800 R and the new BMW F 800 GS draw their power from the distinctive, liquid-cooled 4-stroke in-line 2-cylinder engine with 798 cc, electronic fuel injection, and 6-speed gearbox. Its spontaneous response, impressive pulling power and low fuel consumption are what gives both models an inimitable fascination. Both bikes will also be fitted with BMW Motorrad ABS as standard in accordance with BMW Motorrad’s “Safety 360°” principle – a safety concept which was developed with innovative solutions for maximum safety and carefree riding pleasure.
Colours available for the All-New BMW 428i Gran Coupé include Alpine White, Melbourne Red, Glacier Silver, Mineral Grey and Jatoba Metallic while additional colours of Carbon Black and Estoril Blue are exclusive colours available for the All-New BMW 428i Gran Coupé M Sport variant. Further accentuating its sporty elegance, the All-New BMW 428i Gran Coupé features interior upholstery options consisting of Leather Dakota Black with Red highlights, Leather Dakota Oyster with Black highlights and Leather Dakota Coral Red with Black highlights. Meanwhile, the All-New BMW 428i Gran Coupé M Sport variant offer the options of Leather Dakota Black with Black highlights, Leather Dakota Ivory White with Black highlights or Leather Dakota Coral Red with Black highlights.

The new BMW F 800 R: excitement on two wheels, wherever, whenever.
Owners of the BMW F 800 R – as used by stunt riding legend Chris Pfeiffer – have praised the roadster’s agility, light weight and excellent road manners which make it perfect for riding in the city or along the countryside, with riders discovering complete dominance from the very first yard of travel. With its minimalist design style which offers the perfect combination of urban cool and sportslike aggression, the new BMW F 800 R is the embodiment of an uncompromising style that everyone loves to ride.
The front of the new BMW F 800 R is dressed with an immediately recognizable asymmetric headlight which is paired with clean, bold lines. The bike’s purist look is further accentuated with a new sports windshield and white indicators. Moving towards the body of the new roadster, one will find its wheel rims, engine, frame and chassis are all finished in Black thus giving the machine an exotic, stylish appearance with mass-appeal. The aggressively-styled nature of the naked roadster is further underlined by the muscular side sections of the new BMW F 800 R, and like the sporty front mudguard, are finished in the same colours as the motorcycle.
Keeping to the legacy of dynamic motorcycles, the new BMW F 800 R now also offers a breadth of performance which will please experienced riders just as it does beginners. With every twist of the throttle, the roadster’s robust twin-cylinder engine roars, delivering an immediate response and a level of output which is up to any challenge. Its punchy performance of 87hp and a maximum torque of 86Nm at 6,000rpm is given further prominence should riders choose to slip on the optional Akrapoviĉ silencer. This would make the naked roadster even more aggressive, with an intoxicating, throaty exhaust sound. Such a performance is then transferred to the road efficiently and reliably with an aluminium double swingarm chain drive, even on the 48hp reduced-output version for new riders. The new BMW F 800 R is irrefutably a roadster that will make a big impression, every time.
Focused on what truly counts, the chassis of the new BMW F 800 R is as impressive as its engine. The new BMW F 800 R is genuinely an all-rounder, delivering agility with a minimalist design which is combined with intuitive handling and riding dynamics – all brought together by an ultra-stiff aluminium bridge-type frame which is employed by a 1,520mm wheelbase, a 90.7mm trail, and a 65° steering head angle. Combined with a precisely set telescopic fork and an adjustable spring pre-load at the rear, this set-up will allow riders to journey on the new naked roadster happily whether on longer rides or winding through city streets.
When it comes to safety and comfort, the new naked roadster is similarly uncompromising as it boast safe-braking components which comprises of a floating 320mm double disc brake with a four-piston fixed calliper at the front, and a 265mm single disc brake with single-piston floating calliper at the rear. Of course, the new BMW F 800 R is made to be safer with BMW Motorrad ABS equipped as a standard feature, as do all BMW motorcycles.
To complete the uncompromising style that everyone loves, the new BMW F 800 R is made available in three colour schemes – Racing Blue Metallic, Light White and Sakhir Orange.
The new BMW F 800 GS offers colour choices of sporty BMW Alpine White, Dynamic Cordoba Blue, or Kalamata Matt Metallic.
