Proving that there is a demand for high quality automotive content on Malaysian television, IN GEAR returns this July with a renewed panache. Better cars, cooler bikes and a whole palate of cool content to satiate the thirst of petrol heads young and old. The launch of this new season was held at the Moto Circus Art Gallery, Art of Speed Asia 2014. IN GEAR is the official TV show for this event.
Having kicked off in October 2012, IN GEAR enters its fifth season with a point to prove; that it can survive the dreaded ‘one season’ car show curse. Never before have we had a locally produced auto magazine programme that has survived this long.
According to the Group Editor In Chief of Astro AWANI, Suhaimi Sulaiman, “This is down to the ‘immense interest and sheer dedication’ showed by the editorial team behind the show, led by Producer and Host Syed Farradino Omar and assisted by Co-Producer Ian Johan Ariff and Director Azizul Hisham Azizan.
Suhaimi adds, “The team’s commitment to deliver great content that is first and foremost relevant to the Malaysian market is the thing that sets this show apart from the rest of the offerings imported from overseas.”
A new season must come with a new look. The entire graphics package has been revised and will be revealed to the public in the first episode that will be aired on Saturday the 5th of July 2014. Expect a new and more vibrant montage as well as a host of other cool graphic elements such as info panels and supers made to mimic the heads-up displays of the cars of today.
In season 5, two new segments will be introduced on IN GEAR, namely Wheelie and CAR News. Wheelie is a segment dedicated entirely to everything related to bikes including test rides and exciting bike-centric products and activities.
CAR News on the other hand brings the latest automotive industry news and updates from around the region, presented in a rapid one-minute segment. This segment is produced in collaboration with CAR Malaysia magazine. Both these segments complement the existing selection of segments comprising of the following:
Drive – Test drive of the latest cars
Retro Rides – A look at the best examples of classic beauties
Pimped – One for the modders and shakers
F.I.Y – Products to enhance the looks, comfort or performance of your vehicles
Car-acter – The who’s who in the world of cars and bikes
Club Sport – Tracking down the activities of local car clubs and associations
Track Report – Behind the scenes of your favourite motorsport events
Features – Adhoc issues that would be of the interest of the automotive fans
Additionally, this season would see the return of GLAM LELAKI Styles, a segment produced in collaboration with the leading men’s lifestyle magazine in the Malay sub-sector, GLAM LELAKI.
The relationship with this esteemed magazine acts as a precursor of the kinds of partnerships being forged with the show. In the past seasons, IN GEAR has been fortunate enough to gain the trust of various companies that has invested in branded segments and episodes with us. This is expected to be continued this season with talks already underway to secure further sponsorship with key auto-related companies.
“In the past, car companies have chosen to work closely with us as we are able to target the specific demographic groups that they want. And with IN GEAR being available on both the Astro AWANI website (www.astroawani.com) as well as the mobile app (available on both iOS and Android), the spectrum of viewers are far wider. The show, like most other content on Astro AWANI, is now available to the viewers any time, any day, for free. All they need to do is to log on to the Astro AWANI website or to download the application” adds Suhaimi Sulaiman.
IN GEAR returns to the same prime time slot it held before which is every Saturday at 9.30pm on Astro AWANI (channel 501). The first episode of Season 5 of IN GEAR will be aired on Saturday 5th July at 9.30pm. It can also be watched via live streaming on www.AstroAwani/com for free.
