Ford Sees 25% Sales Jump In Malaysia

Ford today announced that its growth momentum in Malaysia continued to accelerate in June, recording its strongest ever monthly sales and capping off its best-ever first-half performance.Driven by continued strong demand for the new Fiesta, Ranger, Kuga and Focus nameplates, June retail sales jumped 58 percent year-over-year to 1,307 vehicles. Overall retail sales during Ford’s record first-half in Malaysia increased nearly 25 percent to 6,520 vehicles.

With 728 units sold in June – a 64 percent jump year-over-year – the class-defining Ranger pickup remains Ford’s best-selling nameplate in Malaysia. Healthy demand across the entire line-up helped the Ranger record it’s best-ever first-half performance in Malaysia with sales rising 43 percent from a year ago to 3,667 units.

The segment-leading Ranger recently set new standards in safety when Ford strengthened its safety package across the entire line-up in Malaysia. Enhancements include Ford’s Electronic Stability Program (ESP) across all variants and ISOFIX mounts for child seats, as well as added passive features to offer best-in-class safety. The significantly redesigned new Fiesta continued its upward trend, again delivering its best monthly performance in more than a year with retail sales that surged 103 percent year-on-year to 410 units. Year-to-date sales of the new Fiesta are also up, and now stand at 1,778 units.

The Fiesta’s exceptional month was boosted by the availability of Ford’s innovative 1.0L EcoBoost engine in the five-door variant. The three-cylinder engine was recently named 2014 International Engine of the Year – an unprecedented third consecutive victory – for its class-leading drivability, performance, economy, refinement and technology.Continued demand for the stylish and versatile all-new Kuga SUV helped drive year-to-date customer deliveries to 478 units, including June sales of 101 units.

Equipped with the powerful and fuel-efficient 1.6L EcoBoost engine, the all-new Kuga is distinguished by an unmatched combination of smart and safe technologies, as well as segment-leading power and performance capabilities.

Ford All-new Focus

Strong sales of the technology packed all-new Focus boosted year-to-date sales to 575 units. Malaysian customers continue to appreciate the array of smart technologies and features it offers, including Active Park Assist, Active City Stop and Blind Spot Information System, as well as its class-leading safety package.

Ford will further expand its line-up in Malaysia with upcoming launches of a number of class-leading global vehicles including the all-new Ford EcoSport compact urban SUV, Fiesta ST – its second global performance car, as well as two additional variants of the all-new Kuga.

The company also continues to build on its commitment to expand its nationwide dealership network as well as enhance after-sales and customer convenience as sales across its product line-up grow.
