Asia Classic Car Challenge To Support MMER This 31st August

The Asia Classic Car challenge will once again be the support race for the Malaysia Merdeka Endurance Race later this month. This year marks the 13th year the ACCC has been racing, and continues to be a permanent partner in the Malaysian Super Series and one of the strongest championships housed at the Sepang International Circuit.

Speaking about the news of ACCC’s inclusion of the 2014 MMER, series Chairman Daniel Bilski is pleased about the growth of the ACCC and the MME, “Pacific Project Management and SIC are taking the MMER to the next level of exposure and growth and it’s exciting to remain a part of that. The MMER has a fantastic reputation internationally and it’s a tremendous platform for us to support. The ACCC has had its own growth over the past number of years and being a support race to MMER gives us the opportunity to be exposed to a broader fan-base and potential driver base. We have had drivers from newer-GT type categories see our races and decide to join us, purely, because it’s so much fun”

A host of motoring legends compete in the ACCC each year including Porsche, BMW, Jaguar, Mustang, Corvette, Lotus, MG, Ferrari and Alfa Romeo to name a few.

“These are cars that drivers have a real affinity with, whether it’s because they remember them from their youth, or for younger drivers, because they are great cars and just so much fun to drive. It’s also a totally analogue experience. You have to work hard to get a good lap time and it’s pure driving with no electronic assistance. Long-live the heel-and-toe downshift !”, adds an excited Daniel.

As a support event to Asia’s toughest endurance race, the Asia Classic Car Challenge will be a part of the race broadcast and event TV show to be shown on Fox Sports and Motors TV. “The media coverage on the MMER weekend will certainly be great for us to showcase our series and cars”, says Daniel. “The number of fans and spectators at the circuit who not only enjoy the MMER cars but the ACCC cars, gives the weekend a real buzz. It’s tremendous to have an event where you have the absolute latest GT race cars showing their extreme capabilities, but also cars from previous generations and eras. They might not stop or corner as fast, but some of our cars are as fast on the straights as the new GT3 cars.. The scope of cars is a really nice treat for someone who is a real car fan.”

The ACCC will be running two races during the event with Race 1 on Friday morning and Race 2 on Saturday morning.
