Hankook will be supplying tyres as Original Equipment (OE) for the new 2014 MINI. This latest agreement further strengthens the working relationship between the BMW Group and Hankook tyres, who have worked together since 2011. Details of the new arrangement show that the BMW GROUP has chosen the Korean tyre manufacturer as supplier of original equipment for the recently launched new MINI models ONE, ONE D, COOPER, COOPER D and COOPER S.

It is understood that all supplied directly for the MINI production line will be produced from the tyre manufacturer’s European factory in Hungary. Klaus Krause, Head of Hankook’s European Development Centre said, “we have shown that our summer and all-season tyres ideally highlight the driving characteristics of the MINI without neglecting important safety and environmental parameters like wet grip or rolling resistance.

“We are very happy that our tyres have made a positive performance impression with the previous MINI generation and that we are now again fitted as an original equipment to the new MINI edition with an extended tyre portfolio.”

According to a statement from Hankook, in addition to their high performance tyre, the Ventus Prime, this new agreement will see other tyres from their range being used as OE. These models include their ultra high-performance tyre Ventus S1 evo,  and the energy efficient Kinergy Eco.
