Perodua Axia Details Revealed
The Malaysian compact car segment is in for a turnaround with this all new offering from compact car leader Perodua. This is their latest offering which is now ready for booking. Set to be launched in just weeks, this new compact car replaces the very popular Viva. Sharing absolutely nothing with the outgoing Viva, this new Perodua, named AXIA comes with all new design and interior. The drive dynamics are also all new as we will explain.
Physically the AXIA has grown in size over the Viva. Its 1620mm wide, 3640 long and 1510 high. These dimensions bring it closer to the size of its competitors from Korea and Japan. Boot space is an impressive 260-liters allowing for the average young family to take a week’s drive holiday.
The driver gets an electric power steering to lower fuel usage and a 998cc 12V DOHC EEV (energy efficient engine) to ensure a fuel efficient drive in the city and on the open highway. Tight city manoeuvring is easy with the small turning radius of just 4.5m. In car entertainment with CD and WMA is provided from the Standard E manual AXIA and also with the Standard G with the 4-speed auto gearbox. The AXIA SE 5-speed manual model gets added USB ports and Bluetooth functions. The AXIA Advanced model with a 4-speed automatic gets navigation added to the system.
The SE and Advance AXIA cabin is fitted with semi bucket seats for better comfort and to enhance the sporty nature of this compact hatchback a sporty exterior is added with chrome finish and a rear spoiler.
Safety features like ABS brakes with EBD and BA are also included.
The 12V 998cc engine produces a decent 90Nm of torque at 3600rpm and with a manual 5-speed gearbox the AXIA will run some 21.6 kilometres for every litre sipped and with the 4-speed automatic AXIA it will run 20.1 kilometres for every litre sipped.
The AXIA comes with a 5-year warranty which is a first for Perodua and it shows their confidence in this all new car.
