KIDEX Must Be Stopped. Say No To Kidex (SNTK), Rachel Ho Letter To Suhakam

Dear All,
My name is Rachel Ho and I am a resident of Section 19, Petaling Jaya.
- In May 2014, I lodged a complaint to the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM), stating gross violation of MY RIGHTS by the Selangor State government in the proposed Kidex Skyway project.
- To follow-up on my complaint, the Say No To Kidex (SNTK) team swiftly swung into action whereby the team had several meetings with Resident Associations (RA) and Rukun Tetangga (RT).
A total of sixteen (16) RAs/RTs confirmed they were not consulted by either the Selangor government or the Kidex Skyway developer for the following misdemeanor:
a) Caveat of our properties
b) The proposed skyway itself
- I am writing to appeal to you to give your fullest support and to stand in solidarity with the SNTK team to fight to the end for this skyway to be called off – for good. This is SNTK’s plan and it will also be the FINAL ATTEMPT to fight off Kidex from the Human Rights angle.
a. Individual complaint(s) of human rights violation.
b. Submit to Suhakam, a Memorandum consisting of many more of your complaints and other relevant documents on why Kidex should not be built.
c. On a selected date, groups representing each RA, RT will submit this Memorandum to Suhakam Commission at their office in Kuala Lumpur, thereby, recording their objection to Kidex in a strong and impactful, yet peaceful manner. We are to work very hard to galvanize people for this event. Our target is to mobilize at the very least 1000 people on that day.
d. This peaceful show of solidarity will be well covered by the press. In the matter of security, SNTK will collaborate with Suhakam to obtain the necessary permits for this event.

Further details and information will be disseminated to you soon. However, you may be keen to know that the tentative date to handover memorandum and peaceful demo is scheduled on either 5th, 6th, or 7th November 2014.
