Ford today announced its best-ever September performance in Malaysia, with retail sales rising 52 percent to 1,183 units. The exceptional month capped a record quarter for Ford in Malaysia with sales increasing 55 percent to 3,697 units, driven by Ranger’s best-ever quarter and strong demand across Ford’s full lineup of vehicles.

“We’re proud of the increasing appeal of the Ford brand in Malaysia and all the new to Ford customers that we’re able to serve. Our vehicle line-up represents the best of Ford – including a strong focus on safety, performance, fuel efficiency, smart technologies and head-turning style,” said David Westerman, managing director, Malaysia and Asia Pacific Emerging Markets, Ford Motor Company.

The Ranger pickup truck remains Ford’s best-selling nameplate in Malaysia with September retail sales surging 48 percent year-over-year to 745 units. An all-time record quarter for Ranger in Malaysia saw sales rise 73 percent from the same quarter last year to 2,335 units.

“The unmatched safety and capability of this extraordinary truck is really defining the pickup segment in the market today, and helping to further drive its appeal in Malaysia,” said Westerman.

The sporty new Fiesta contributed to the record September with retail sales of 209 units, helping boost its year-to-date sales more than 35 percent to 2,590 units. Fiesta’s strong appeal is being driven by both the 1.5L Ti-VCT and high-performance 1.0L EcoBoost engine variants. The 1.0L EcoBoost engine delivers a class-leading combination of performance, fuel efficiency and emissions levels.

“It’s great to see that more and more customers are appreciating the impressive performance and low cost of ownership that the 1.0L EcoBoost engine delivers. It’s truly makes the Fiesta a unique value proposition in the segment,” explained Westerman.

Deliveries of the all-new EcoSport compact urban SUV also kicked-off in September, with the first 82 customers receiving their vehicles.

“We expect to increase deliveries of EcoSport throughout the fourth quarter,” said Westerman. “It offers drivers an affordable and aspirational alternative to the compact car that delivers fun, freedom and adventure without compromising on safety.”

The stylish Kuga SUV and technology-packed Focus contributed third quarter sales of 221 and 200 units respectively. Ford’s overall year-to-date retail sales have now increased 34 percent to 10,217 units, putting the company on pace for a record sales year in Malaysia.

“With a growing line-up of global Ford vehicles in Malaysia and fast-growing customer base, we are continuing to further enhance our aftersales offerings as well as continuing to expand our dealer network so that we are providing the very best customer and ownership experience,” said Westerman.
