If you are free this weekend and looking for a short holiday with added excitement, take a flight to Bangkok and come and see the biggest motoring event in the region. It opens this Saturday, the 29th of November 2014. The theme for this year’s show is ‘Moving Forward Together….ASEAN Autos’. The Chairman of the Motor Expo greeted the 20 invited International media to the press conference explaining this year’s theme and he added the reason why all the ASEAN nations should work together to produce cars. This will strengthen the employment market in the region and increase its skills and technology sector. Also, ASEAN is the fastest growing region for the automotive market.

There are 41 car brands and 13 motorcycle companies participating, a record number for this yearly show and this time the TCEB, Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau has endorsed the show.

Compared to the Bangkok International Motor Show which happens in the 1st quarter of the year, this show gets more crowd attendance. Last year there were 1.3 to 1.4 million visitors, and the International Show gets a slightly lesser number of visitors. In terms of exhibitors, this show sees more exhibitors (41 car brands) where the International Bangkok Motor Show only had 22 car brands exhibiting.

Thailand has seen a drop in car sales in the last year, where total sales month after month have been dropping. This show is targeted to attract even visitors from neighbouring countries.

Two concept cars will be previewed, one from Subaru and another from Hyundai and Mazda will be launching the all new Mazda2 sedan. Domestic car production is sitting at 800,000 and export market is hitting 1,200.000 to date for Thailand.
