Volkswagen Motorsport reveals Polo R WRC for 2015
Volkswagen has seen some solid results through their relatively short rally career over the past few years, fielding a model based on the road-going Volkswagen Polo. Granted in some regional rallies with less stringent rules they have opted for a larger Golf platform, but for the most part their WRC teams will be running on the Polo R WRC car.
For 2015, the livery changes from the more plain “R” decal on a white body with Red Bull overlaid, to this fantastic blue-dominant colour scheme that peels away at the rear to show the white body underneath. Red Bull is again a prominent sponsor of the car.
The signature large square overfenders and aggresssive front bumper return with minor changes to the overall structure, but the colour scheme is really the focus for this 2015 model. One of the larger changes for 2015 is the introduction of a hydraulic gearbox, allowing the teams to run paddle shifters on the steering column.
