Ford Lanun Darat Adventure Team
Ford owners and enthusiasts were given a chance to improve their off-road driving skills as they negotiated tough terrain in Tamparuli, Sabah, during the Ford Lanun Darat 2015 adventure, held over two days on 7 and 8 February.
Organised by Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC), Ford’s local distributor in Malaysia, the expedition progressed through two different off-road driving spots. More than 80 participants were led on the challenge by veteran safety instructor, Paul Si. The convoy included 24 Ford Ranger pickups and an Everest SUV. Tailored specifically for Ford customers and enthusiasts, this year’s event was packed with fun and challenging activities to showcase the Ranger’s durability.
“Lanun Darat is one of the many programmes organised for us to reach out to our customers and equip them with the necessary driving skills to make the most of their vehicles,” said Lee Eu San, managing director, Sime Darby Auto Connexion.
The Lanun Darat 2015 adventure started from the SDAC showroom in Kota Kinabalu, with the first off-road session taking place in Tamparuli, where participants enjoyed a practical session with Paul Si on safe off-road techniques, before heading back to Shangri-La Rasa Ria Resort. Day two comprised another off-road session in Sepanggar, before the convoy made its way back to the showroom.
The sessions offered the perfect opportunity to test the Ranger’s rugged off-road capabilities, as well as its market-leading combination of safety features, power, payload capacity, towing and water-wading capabilities that have made it Malaysia’s number two selling pickup.
The convoy included variants from across the full Ranger lineup, from the base model XL to the sought-after Wildtrak, as well as the newly introduced Ranger Double Cab 4×4 3.2L XLT Hi-Rider. For more information, please visit www.ford.com.my.
